If you are at the Opera House just walk toward the Botanical Gardens. There is a nice boardwalk all the way from the Opera House along the shoreline through the Gardens to the Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair (a view point to take pictures of the Opera...More

The walk from the Opera House to the Botanical Gardens is short as there is a gate there. You go into the gardens and it is quite a nice respite from the big city and so zenful.

We combined a long, free, leisurely walk, completely around the Opera House, with a full walking tour through the Botanical Garden. It was wonderful ! Unless one wants to see the inside, there is no reason to do paid Opera House tours. We concluded with...More

An easy way to enter the Botanic Garden with the sea on one side and the garden on the other side. I can highly recommend this walk.

The Royal Botanic Garden is just next to the Opera House. It is just a short walk from the steps to the gate. Visitors normally go to the garden after Opera House. It was quite a long walk on a sunny afternoon along the path...More

Easy and free. Good way to check out some of the good landmarks in Sydney. Nice on a good sunny day.

Most people just hang around the Opera House and, no matter how splendid the view is from there, it is a mistake not to continue the walk towards Mrs Macquarie's Chair along the shore through Botanic Gardens. It is a magnificent park, well maintained, and...More

The opera house itself is amazing and well written about. The area around it at the pier is also very worth checking out. There is a small fish market with maybe the best fish I have ever tasted. Near the train station are people playing...More

Leaving behind the bustle of the harbour, you walk under the bridge to the Botanical Gardens. Along the way, you come across a green sward with old pieces of architecture and stone work laid out like a Japanese garden before you come to the East...More

If you go on the Opera house web site it will give you all the shows that are currently on. If you are staying in a hotel the reception or concierge will be able to help you.

You should be able to do all that in the morning. There are tours of the opera house you might not have time for if you want to wander around the gardens longer - but they are all right in the same place, so if you have an... More

April in Sydney is Autumn : it's warm but not as hot as in the summer months. Very nice for walking about. Expect daytime temperatures around 20°C (68°F) cooling down at night to 15°C (58°F) .
