About
CWM Galleries represent artists who conceive and create works of beauty, providing pleasure and insight to their fellow man. In our view there is enough ugliness in this world without artists contributing to it.We totally reject the concept of elitism and the pretensions that so often inhibit people in approaching and enjoying art.A red dot on a white canvas will always be a red dot on a white canvas, an installation of underwear on the floor will always be underwear on the floor. I suspect I could even create these 'works of art' myself.Back in the 1990's we set out to change that and to-day CWM Galleries are regarded by many as Australia's premier commercial sculpture galleries. The sculptures we exhibit are created in classical and lasting materials, a legacy for future generations. You are invited to judge the level of skill required to conceive and create the wonderful and lasting works we exhibit. CWM Galleries constantly exhibit up to 180 sculptures and 200 paintings by Contemporary Australian Artists. The artists creating these works include both award winning artists and highly regarded teachers of their craft.CWM Galleries provides sponsorship and/or manages a number of our artists. Many of the works displayed are exclusive to our galleries. We urge you to acquire works of art that you really love and welcome your next visit to CWM Galleries.

The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.

just so everyone is clear, this is your average little art seller in tiny stall inside a shopping mall. i don't know how this got to the top of the recommendation list in the tripadvisor app. it's not something to go out of your way to see when visiting sydney.

I can only agree with the other reviews on this site. What a surprise to see such a variety of Australian painting and sculpture beautifully displayed in an historic sandstone building right in the heart of the CBD. Chris wasn't there the day we visited but Linda was so warm and welcoming, with none of the stand-offish or superior manner so often seen in private gallery staff. She knew we weren't buying but couldn't have been kinder, even opening up some of the atrium galleries for us to view. As some of the other reviews have said, it is well worth going in for a look, after all it is free, and you'll have the bonus of a pleasant conversation with knowledgeable staff and get to check out a great building into the bargain.
For the serious collector, there are thousands of paintings in varying styles and a huge range of sculpture to tempt you.

Too often, privately run galleries give one the impression that unless you have squillions to spend, you are not really welcome. This gallery is the exact opposite! I had limited time, but Chris and Linda were very welcoming and I had a great time looking at their street level galleries and discussing art with them. They are enthusiastic, approachable, and welcome conversation about art. Even though I am an "amateur" my thoughts and ideas were listened to and discussed. I was privileged to see some paintings that were not on show and marveled at the artists' talent. I did not have time to see the other galleries in the area below the street level, but next time I am in Sydney, I shall make time. The fact that a person may not have the money to spend on such beautiful artwork, does not seem to matter to these two art enthusiasts - they treat everyone with the same courtesy and enthusiasm and are happy to spend time with you.. Perhaps one day I can dream that they will represent me - I can but dream!

We had the pleasure of discovering the CWM Galleries on our trip to Sydney. This was a experience that we shared with our good friends from Canada, we were all delighted with the time that we were able to spend there, the experience was one that everybody can do when they visit Sydney. The staff are excellent both Chris & Lynda are cultured in sculptures & paintings. The Gallery displays mostly Australian artist of the highest quality & a few international artist.

Visiting CWM Galleries turned out to be an even a far more rewarding experience than I was expecting.
Arriving outside the main door, I realized I was standing in front of a part of Australia's history -The gallery was inside The Old Corn Exchange in Sussex Street, Sydney. There was an immediate sense of anticipation-a feeling I was going to be part of something very special.
Inside, I was warmly welcomed by Chris and Linda the owners. I discovered a collection of some of the best present-day artists' works represented in an area where I felt I could actually touch them and feel their energy. Works using every imaginable medium - bronzes, marble, stainless steel, glass - all were all on display in different parts and galleries of their complex.
The incredible works of Perides, Queensland's top Sculptor and owner of what is considered to be Australia's top foundry ; Sculptor Addis, a New Australian, originally from Serbia, whose works were shown recently at a successful exhibition set up by Chris and Linda in Canberra.
There were also many wonderful paintings, prints and etchings comparable with some in Australia's top National Galleries.
I would suggest to every art lover to visit CWM Galleries, experience the warm welcome by owner Chris and Linda and find yourselves surrounded by a feast of artworks that you will remember and that will draw you back again.
My limitation unfortunately, was time however I shall make up for it on my next visit to Sydney. I would suggest that if you are going in by car, to ensure you remember which car park you use. There are three identical ones of some seven stories. Perhaps take the train or a taxi.
Thank you for giving us such an enriching opportunity to share the best of Australian Artists and Sculptors.
