Luckily we made it to the entrance a bit after 8am what was very worth it. We were very surprised that only a few people were around. We could make great shots with almost no people. First we walked one quick round for the pictures...More

The Mayan history is amazing. And this site is one of the most important of the Mayan world. This is definitely a must. Just to mention... Even though there are very important places to see (as Pakal’s tomb), there are few buildings. Only 2% of...More

So many unique things to discover: e.g. the stone reliefs including the prisoners in the palace court yard, the hieroglyph staircase and the iconic observation tower. I found that around noon it was actually too hot to enjoy the site so we took a break...More

Palenque is the premier Mayan site in Mexico. Many well restored structures over a large area without the huge crowds of Chitzen Itza. There’s a jungle trail that loops around, but if you miss the return part of the loop it will take you to...More

Excellent ruins. Huge ancient buildings. Tons of tourists over the December Holiday period, and lots of locals selling goods. Plenty of trees to provide shade. I recommend doing one of the jungle hikes/treks that are offered here, as well. Saw howler monkeys and the guides...More

This very famous Maya site is really one of the best. The buildings are in excellent condition. Although it is (unfortunately) no longer possible to climb Temple of the Inscriptions, let alone go in Pacal's famous tomb, one can still climb all 5 temples of...More

This is a must see historical site, situated in the jungle just off Palenque. Try to be early and invest in a guide. Taxi-drivers often know someone who is worth your while. Ours did. This way you‘ll get to know things, that you will otherwise...More

No, it's not. The tickets are actually bands that you tie on your wrist and they scan the bar code on the band. A bar code cannot be read twice by the scanner.
