Went to get our Christmas tree - the staff went out of their way to ensure we got what we wanted including loading it onto the car roof! Great service from very friendly staff!

The booking was easy and the cost reasonable but the experience on the day was chaotic and disorganised. On arrival I asked if there was somewhere to park for a person with mobility issues and was sent to the next steward. He seemed not to be aware that there even was a Santa's Grotto and sent us on to a muddy field where I found parking. There was no effective signage at any stage and we eventually found the grotto. It was raining hard but there was no shelter and the ground was muddy and slippery. An awning here would have helped. However, the organisers didn't think one was necessary for an event in December when there was likely to be inclement weather!
The visit to Father Christmas went well for my grandson and we were handed a slip of paper to collect the photo. However, due to technical issues this was not available and we were given the choice of waiting in the pouring rain for this to be fixed or leave without one. We left and returned to the car which then got stuck in the mud but no help was forthcoming as they we not insured to offer any assistance.
This was a most disorganised and chaotic event and Elvedon Estate should be ashamed of themselves.

We've been here a few times over the past two decades or so and have experienced some ups and downs but were determined to visit again this winter after a considerable break. Happy to report. The charm and ethos of the estate remains firmly in tact.

Although my trek from Australia to replenish some of my all time favourite oils and vinegars was not as fruitful as hoped (suppliers change, Covid happens, brands dissolve), I still managed to pick up some tasty finds in the Courtyard shop.

Today's visit earns five stars not because of the tasty, hot and well presented lunch or gorgeous finds in the gift shop however, but because of the enormous and generous effort made by one of Elveden's long serving employees, Denise Sharpe.

It's a long story but, Denise enabled the delivery of not one but two gorgeous gift hampers for my mother in law which we organised together from Australia over the last couple of years. Her attention to detail, genuine interest to help and efficiency were second to none. She even booked a table for us for lunch to meet the entire family. Needless to say it was an emotional time that I never thought would come to pass. Truly grateful 🙏. And, as ever, a fan of this establishment. I'll definitely be back for more lunchtime specials and the venison should the Fates allow.

Being an original Thetfordian and now living in Hertfordshire, I decided it was high time I re- visited Elveden as I haven't been here for about 19 years.
Anyway, it has a lovely Christmas shop, and an excellent restaurant, I had the most delicious Xmas pudding EVER!
Getting to it was easy, and we ended the day by re visiting the church in the woods by the arboretum. A fantastic and frosty experience.

I have eaten here a few times when I have popped in to buy produce in the last couple of years and been hungry. The ‘restaurant’ food quality is horrendous. Don’t expect farm shop quality ingredients. This over priced food is certainly not cooked by a career chef. Think ASDA cafe standards at Daylesford farm shop prices.

Really nice dog friendly café (seating outside with dog).

The work is wonderful with local sourced and small business items for sale. Love the unusual Jams and Chutneys.

Have been here on a few occasions and it never disapoints.

We have visited a few times over the years on our travels, but our main reason for this trip was to buy some various items from the butchers. we have found that the belly pork has been really tasty from previous visits, so much so that, when trying pork from other areas it just was not the same quality. Paul the butcher on duty on this trip was very helpful & kept our large purchases overnight in his fridge so we could return next day on our way back home. the wide choice in the farm shop is also to be recommended.

We have stopped here many times and enjoy the very thoughtful, farmers' quality food and shops. This visit was no exception with the weather allowing most (if not all) patrons to sit in the courtyard for the efficient food/coffee service.

We would highly recommend if you are passing on the A11!
