The Poblado Cantabro is way out of the way but so worth it! You have to drive to Argueso, which isn't much of a village and then quite a ways down a not so great gravel/dirt road. We contemplated turning around but so glad that we didn't. Once there we found a primitive grass parking lot with a small sign pointing out the direction to walk. We really had no idea what we were getting into since all of the reviews here were in Spanish and my Spanish is passable at best. After a short walk we arrived at the entrance where we saw a few primitive looking huts, gardens and some farm animals. We kind of stood there for a moment wondering if we had to pay or if we could just walk around or what we were supposed to do when we were greeted by a woman in Spanish. We explained that our Spanish was limited so she did her best to accommodate us in English as best she could. You do have to pay but it was very minimal. She led us to one of the huts where we sat and she explained the purpose (it's basically a hands on iron age archaeological history lesson). She took us through all the tools and weapons that were used during that time period, explained how they were made and used. Unlike most places like this you didn't just get to look, you actually got to hold and use the items. We got to try on ancient iron age helmets and hold the swords and shields. We experienced what it would have been like to grind grain by hand to make flour. She also showed us how they built their huts and cared for the livestock and grew their crops. One of the coolest things was playing with the bramadera, which is a thin piece of wood attached to a string that you spin around and it makes a whirring sound that can be heard for miles away that they used to communicate across the valleys. We learned a lot and our guide was excellent. There was one family that was just leaving when we arrived and another that arrived just as we were finishing up so we had our guide all to ourselves. It was one of the coolest places we have ever been and yet we really had very little idea what it even was. They have a minimal gift shop with things that were related to what you saw there. I definitely recommend this place if you are anywhere near here. it is worth the drive.

This little village is a reproduction of the way people lived in the iron age. The people running it, will tell you a lot of interesting facts of the ancient daily life. We learned a lot in a very involving way and had a lot of fun as well.
It is also a great visit for kids.

We went expecting an attraction more suitable for children but where given a very informative tour which was made so much more interesting by being able to see and touch the village and it's objects. I would strongly recommend this attraction for both families and adults. They also hold workshops which looked great.

Today, 9/5/23, we decided to go to the town after calling yesterday and asking for information. They told us that it was open until 6:30 p.m. and that we did not need to reserve for the guided tour. After going down an inaccessible and poorly indicated path, we arrived and it was closed. AMAZING. We have not been able to see it and we are very clear that we will not try it again. Terrible information and organization.

A super special place where you can feel what it was like to live in a Cantabrian town from the Bronze Age. The guides are truly passionate professionals who explain everything with great clarity and affection.
