the Ascension was the culminating point. one needs to traverse a short tunnel before reaching a depiction of Heaven. nice try. i just could not relish staying because there was a prenup photoshoot going on and we felt like we were invading their event.

the view of the coast was breathtaking. seeing it at the top of the hill gave me the feeling of conquering the mountain i climbed. i did not. we were brought there thru a golf cart which engine almost gave up upon passing thru the steep slopes. i was told that out of the 7 carts, only 2 remained in running condition.

the various life-size figures along the stairs portraying relevant bible events were a sight to behold. there is also a station of the Cross for Catholics who are pilgrims to this site.

the stench of the animal droppings was a disappointment, though.

Located just 1km from the main road. A lot of carinderias (eateries) lined outside the entrance area, but there's a restaurant inside that offers variety of dishes in their menu.

You can either walk to the restaurant which is a bit far and located on a higher ground, or you can take the golf cart for a minimum fee. We chose the golf cart since we can't stand the smell of the farm animals along the way.

As we were eating, we were fortunate to witness the parade of goats and parade of turkeys which was just a few meters away from our table. It was fascinating to see animals line up to get their food.

In going to the pilgrimage site, you can either go up thru the staircase or ride the golf cart again. Again, we opted to ride in going up and take the staircase in going down. Nice scenery at the top overlooking the coastline of San Joaquin. More religious figures were there to take photo with.

There are a lot of activities to do there like zipline and kayak and paddle boat. My girls did the zipline.

Quite expensive for the entrance, but consider it as maintainance for the farm animals despite the owner earning a lot already from the produce.

I wondered why they put 2 attractions next to each other. As I travelled from the Entrance area, I could smell the stench or foul smell coming out of the chicken coop. I felt like throwing up!

The foul smell appeared to die down as I walked towards the stairs, totaling more than 400! There are religious statues, cave-like entrance, then the angels, Jesus, and big cross.

These dramatic displays made me forget the stench I encountered earlier. Took a lot of pictures here.

If you're in the area and need a detour for a drink, then this might be worth a 45 minute stop but I wouldn't make this your prime destination.

The place feels like it is well past its prime with a lot of the animals on display in poor display cages but the animals themselves look reasonably well-cared for. There is suposedly a zipline and water sports area but both were very small and no one was on them when we visited.

There is a place to eat and drink which has a good view over the coast. Whilst we didn't eat, what other people were eating looked reasonably good.

The owners of the farm have done a good job to raise funds by commercialising it and a lot of people were leaving with trays of eggs. They charge an entrance fee but it looks like a lot of people are happy to pay it.

I wouldn't recommend this if you're a seasoned traveller and looking for something that is a good representation of the Philippines.

I first visited GarinFarm in November 2018 with family and loved it. I returned on November 1, 2024, with a close friend and her family, and we had just as much fun. Recreating some 2018 photos with my son was a special moment.

We arrived at 7 AM, avoiding crowds and getting clear photos. Walking up the path, which features the Stations of the Cross, added meaning to the experience. For those who prefer not to walk, there’s a cab for a small fee.

If you’re planning a visit, bring an extra t-shirt, water, a fan, and an umbrella. There’s also a restaurant and a souvenir shop for a nice meal and keepsakes.

Very interesting place to stay. The rooms with the garden view are nice and unique. Have an extensive menu selection for food though sometimes they don't have some food items available. Expected more from the farm though. The Ascension was a unique experience and one-of-a-kind view. I think one night stay is enough though. Good place to find peace and quiet.

We went to Garin Farm to eat at their restaurant. We had to pay the entrance fee, pay the golf cart that would convey us to the resto.

We shouldnt have been made to pay entrance fee since we were not going to 'heaven'.

I reserved a three day room for two online and received a reservation number and email confirmation. Had to reserve using paypal or credit card account. We also CALLED them and they gave us a price, cheaper, for the trip if we would pay direct to them; Which paypal charged only half as down payment.
When we arrived, the rooms were not available and the email confirmation and booking number invalid because of a computer problem in the city. So we would have to pay for one room for one night and move to another room for the next night. So a room is 775 EACH PERSON. So two pays 1550 pesos. IF you were getting two rooms with one person each, it would be the same amount, but you would get two towels, two swimming pool passes and two complimentary breakfasts. So two rooms for the same price but one room for two at the same price gets you ONLY ONE SWIMMING POOL PASS and only ONE BREAKFAST. So we tried to ask for another room, one for her and one for me. "Not available" although three of them remained empty all night. So a couple paying the same price as two single people with two rooms gets one pool pass and one breakfast. The single people hog up another room and get freebies?????? What kind of business is this? The golf cart ride up the hill from the gate is 60 pesos. Up to the top of the cross is 90 pesos per ride, max of 3.
We asked for over easy eggs. We even told them in illonggo. Like sunny side up but turned over briefly. We were brought eggs so hard like rubber and I mean really overcooked to toughness. Coffee is a bag of sugared and creamed coffee with a cup of hot water and is too sweet for most. You are forbidden to bring in food or drink and water they say needs to be boiled to drink. They sell Garin water in bottles for 20 pesos small and 35 pesos large though. The chocolate drink made there I think is 35 pesos, extremely sweet and tastes good if you like a really watered down chocolate bar sweet tasting one ounce shot cup of the stuff. It's a one gulp cup, very small but full of chocolate flavor and sugar. Lots of sugar. Would be great on their milk icecream.
Few animals in pens, small water pond to row a boat, kanoe and small swimming pool for adults and yellowed water smaller one for babies and younger ones.
The cross at the top and stations of the cross along the way are works of art from cement and I think pretty good for what it is. There is a small zip line compared to others in the world but fun. 250 pesos and it is a return trip zipping both ways. The dinners looked good on menu but bland. Birds will help you eat yours if you sit outside so don't leave your food alone. It's very windy most days and feels good. Stay out of the sun; The wind and sun may fool your skin to burn easily.
All in all I did not like the setup with the rates and unfairness for couples. They also say it's overlooking the China Sea which is nowhere true at all. It is the Sulu Sea and the Philippine Seas. Wish we had stayed in our nice backyard with open fields nearby than going to GarinFarms because of the illogical rates and benefits.
About the room: Windows dirty so the view was not nice. Have to purchase water, food and drinks.

The Garin Farm should be on your list if your'e going to visit Ilo-Ilo. The travel from the City is almost an hour with 150 entrance. They got some animals like goat, chicken and many more so expected a bad smell for those who are sensitive as you walk along the way. You need to take a stairs but the had also a car to go if you don't take the stairs for 150 one way going up. Bring extra shirt , hut, eye glass and water because your energy will be drain if youre taking the stairs i thinks it's more than 400 up steps to take. As you get up to the top you can see the view from the top very refreshing and cool air you gonna relax. Entering the heaven you gotta first enter the manmade cave which is kinda dark then as you pass through you hear heavenly music with amazing and perfect view that makes you feel better. Definitely you never gonna regret visiting Garin Farm its a great place they got restau, some activities like zipline and kayak, etc. Its worth to visit this place.

The 150 pesos entrance fee was worth it! Their golf cart service made it more easy and efficient for my parents, who are both in their sixties, to explore the place. Food was a so-so but the fresh provincial ambiance you get to enjoy while eating is something.
