Great side trip from Naples

Just a short 40 minute drive from the Naples area you can see this great aqueduct. It's in surprisingly good shape, considering how run-down much of this region can be. Very worthwhile stop for some photography. Be careful if you're walking through the grass on the embankments to the sides of the aqueduct because there are snakes. The one I saw was not venomous but it's still good to be cautious and probably not take your dogs through the high grass.

Amazing architecture

Worth the drive and see it in person. Something that was built more than 300 years ago and is still standing through the test of time. There's a piece of road to access the monument that stands beside it. Also to read a little bit of its history. There's a small trail but we didn't proceed.

This aqueduct is really impressive, huge and wonderful. However, it is not sponsored, there are not good directions, and there's nothing to ease the entrance. I climbed up the hill in order to reach the entrance of the first level, and walked it all the way to the end and did the same for the second level. The third level is closed with gates so you can't really walk it. However, the view from there is majestic, as the aqueduct itself. This was a photographic tour for me.

Had no idea this was here until we drove up on it. It's in perfect condition. The castle in Casserta has the blue prints for the gates/bride on display. It's massive, imposing and gorgeous!

Very imposing and impressive structure, not well known in the expat community. At the base on the east side, there is some parking next to what I think is a monument commemorating the struggles associated with unification (but not sure).

From this location you will be able to assess the scale of the design as you can climb into some of the arches closest to the ground.

On the west side there is a local switch-back road that will lead you to the entrance to the top of the aqueduct. If you have a small car (A or B class) you can drive off the main road right up to the gate. There is a small olive grove where people have parked their cars and turned around. May be private property so be careful.

The gate is normally opened and you can freely walk across the span. We did not as we had some items in the car that we did not want to leave.

Great views of the valley in both direction from the to of the span. This is now on our list of sites to take visitors.
