Amazing introduction to Rioja wine, we were shown around an original winecellar and got to taste amazing regional wines and food for a very reasonable price. We would come again and would recommend to anyone!

Amazing Winery with History
Jun 2019
We came here through Jose's wine tour. This winery has so much history and is a great place to learn about Rioja. We enjoyed tasting some wine from the barrel and then lunch in a massive wine barrel itself. We also got to use a porron!

A wonderful unique wine tour experience
Sep 2019 • Couples
Jose is the perfect host and his wine tour of the Rioja Valley was exceptional. His knowledge of the wine industry in Northern Spain was extensive and very interesting to learn about, particularly the very small family plots that are dotted throughout the region. The highlight of the tour without doubt however was the visit to his own wine cave, La Bodega del Tesoro. Here we tasted his wines in conjunction with a truly special local lunch prepared by Jose, including jamon, home grown tomatoes and potato and chorizo soup made by his wife that morning. Little lamb cutlets and fresh chorizo grilled over the open fire (lit with vine cuttings) topped of a truly perfect day . The vision Jose has realised by restoring this original old barrel room and wine cave across the road is indeed momentous. Gracias Jose. We wish you well for all your future ventures. Penny and Roger.

The Best of Spain
Jul 2019
What do you hope for when you travel? To challenge yourself by navigating in a different culture, to step out of your everyday life and to expand your perspective? That's what Spain offered us but this experience was so far and above anything we could have hoped for. Clearly, the wines (and olive oil!) were delicious and I lugged home way too many bottles for my carry on to still be a carry on. But it was Jose and Yosena who transformed this visit into an experience that left the 5 of us in tears of appreciation for the miracle they have wrought. No one undertakes the restoration of an abandoned home and 350 year old cave unless they deeply love their mission. Bravo to the two of you and thank you for sharing this jewel with us. We will never forget our time with you and your hospitality (not to mention the delicious food!)

The highlight of our trip!
Jul 2019 • Family
This bodega is truly a hidden treasure. We were the only guests on the tour and it felt very intimate and personalized. José and Yosena were the best hosts we could ask for: very warm, welcoming, and informative. We expected appetizers after wine but were met with enough food to leave us all full for our 3 hour drive after our visit. The food, wine, and company were all wonderful. The peaceful and quaint countryside accompanied by the beautiful rustic aesthetic of the bodega make for a great, relaxed experience. I would highly reccommend this bodega, as it was a once in a lifetime experience for my family and I.

Anazing experience
We had a wonderful time with Juan! Learnt a lot about both ancient and modern winemaking. Food and winetasting was nothing like in ordinary tastings, and we will remember this evening for a long time!

Highlight of our trip!

Jose and his wife are incredible. Everything about the wine tour was amazing. We spent most of the day with them, and could not have had a better time! You can tell they have put a lot of time and effort in to making their winery relaxing and enjoyable! By the time we left the winery our bellies were full and our spirits were happy! Highly recommend this winery and tour!

Lovely winery

We visited this winery as part of a wider wine tour. It was fascinating to hear how it had been renovated and to taste some of the wine that had been produced here. The owner is very knowledgeable about wine.

Truly unique winery
Jan 2019 • Couples
We visited La Bodega del Tesoro as a part of a half day wine tour in Rioja. Our tour guide was actually the owner of the winery and this was our final stop. This is a very small and old winery that has been painstakingly restored. It includes several large fermentation vats, but also has a deep cave that rune into the hillside. Most of the tasting rooms in Rioja are for large wineries that export to the US is pretty large quantities, so this was a really great place to visit because the wines simply aren't available anywhere else. The other interesting thing, relative to most other wineries in Rioja is that many of the bottlings here are single varietal. We has a bottle of their garnacha which was great and really very distinct from the other styles of wine you encounter in Rioja. If you're looking to experience something that is truly unique, I would highly recommend this winery. The family could not be nicer or more hospitable and the food and wine was absolutely wonderful.
