Stunning
Jul 2020
Another one of this “hidden” hamlets of Tuscany, a little off the beaten track, situated above Radda in Chianti. There are some paths to walk, which is nice but it takes most part of a day walking to Volpaia and back. Some small one-way lanes also leads to Volpaia and this time we made that choice. Volpaia is a small hamlet, it doesn’t take long to walk around in it. Beautiful, as is the views of the valley between Volpaia and Radda. Don’t miss out on their Chianti, Volpaia has a reputable wine house, or just sit outside the bar and look out over the landscape.

Highlight of Italy
Nov 2019 • Friends
First time trip to Tuscany. A friend recommended Volpaia and I am so glad she did. The drive there from a Greve was an adventure (gravel road through the Tuscan hills) but worth every minute. We booked a winery tour for 2 of our party of 4. Planned to eat at the Osteria or Ristorante. Both were closed on our arrival so we went to Bar-Ucci and are so glad we did. Paula was wonderful! We had the best meal of our trip. The Riboletta and Caprese were superb. As was the house red. 2 in our party are Vegan, and Paula was able to modified a meal for them that was reported to be outstanding. During our wine tour, our friends hung out at Bar- Ucci and had tea, coffee, dessert and good company.

Winery tour was great. Old castle in a small village. It was just my husband and I and we did our wine tasting in “the wine room” inside the former castle. Fantastic day!

Cooking Class with Giao
Jun 2019
The highlight of our 25-year wedding anniversary trip was a cooking class for 10 with Giao, the proprietor of Volpaia. She was so delightful and the "class" was really more of an informal party where we cooked, drank and were entertained by the most amazing host (and her adorable grandson). Definitely worth a trip to Volpaia, even if you don't do the cooking class. Highly recommend!

Interesting medieval town
Sep 2019
A hidden gem about 1 1/2 hours from Florence in the Chianti region. Architecture, views and food to die for. Plan ahead as it is only accessible by dirt road and weather could be an issue.

Beautiful village!
Aug 2019
This village is just stunning, consisting of several hilly streets with many old stone houses in different shapes and sizes. The streets are beautiful and absolutely spotless. It took my breath away!

Fantastic wine in a gorgeous Tuscan hilltop town!
Jul 2019 • Couples
I will return here. This is the idyllic Tuscan setting. A charming hilltop town complete with chapel, winery, wine bar, and Michelin star restaurant. Super private and very quiet. If you’re looking for a relaxing spot to have great food and wine, come here!

Our driver Antonio brought us here in between our wine tasting at Fontodi and dinner at Dario Cecchini’s Officina della Bistecca. We didn’t know what to expect and were thrilled when we pulled up to hill to this sweet town. We walked up and got an impromptu wine tasting from Francesco. We tasted just about everything in their line up, except the sparkling, which we happily took chilled with us to dinner. We just had awesome tastings at San Felice and Fontodi and Volpaia’s wines stood up to the excellent offerings at these nearby spots. This is a wonderful place to get introduced to Chianti Classico.

Next time we are in Tuscany I will definitely look at staying here. It’s absolutely beautiful and has everything you need!

Stunning medieval village with superb winery
Jul 2019
This is tiny village which is very old. We visited to go on the wine tasting tour which is in the old castle. It was really worthwhile. This is a family owned business. The tour is interesting, not too long and ends with wine tasting sat down at a table with breads, cheeses and olive oil, which they also make. The tasting comprises white, various reds and dessert wine. There is small shop which also offers additional tasting. They sell their own olive and balsamic vinegar as well. There are two good restaurants for lunch/dinner afterwards. The drive in was really lovely and picturesque. Highly recommend.

Don't miss this town
May 2019 • Couples
When in Chianti you really owe it to yourself to visit this hilltop town. It is old and quaint with all stone buildings and a couple of great places to have a glass of wine or a meal. The drive up is spectacular high Chianti hills and vineyards. Come at lunch time or early evening and sit out and chill with a glass of wine. Relaxation will not get any better
