Like all gardens started over 120 years ago, there are old trees and cannons. Hopetoun Gardens is a pleasant place, with flowers, a good playground, rotunda, shady seats and public toilets.

Hopetourn gardens are very well maintained and well set out gardens on Glen Huntley Road and Victoria Street Elsternwick. Apart from the gardens there is a kids playground, BBQ's and toilets. It is a pleasant break from what is essentially housing all around.

Great playground and an interesting insight into the botanical mindset of melbournites a hundred years ago. It could stand to be celebrated a little more.

I first visited here back in 1950's and 1960s. Always was a pleasure to sit and relax ad enjoy some quiet time. The cannons on display that as children my cousin and I played on have recently been restored and look great as presentation pieces....More
