Guess I had sheer bad luck. Started raining heavily as I reached the viewing deck for Mount Sinabung. Heavy rain + Mist rendered visibility to near zero. Could not see the volcano.

Worth the travel , a sight not to be missed! We were from lake toba heading to brastagi to view the mountain. The journey was long , road is narrow with many sharp corners. Nevertheless it is worth the journey! Nice panoramic view.

The better views are at dawn and dusk because of the haze. We returned and saw it puffing away and on the drive down saw a significant eruption which was very exciting.
