Located at the midway from Roing to Tezu, this archeological site does not seem to receive much attention. Though there is an enclosure with a gate, there is no information written anywhere except for the name. It is said to be built by King Bhismak, father of Rukmini in 8th century BC.

One can find structure made out of flat bricks. No walls or vertical structure but just basement and ramps. Not maintained by locals or Archaeological survey department

Bhismaknagar which is 30 km from Roing is the oldest archaeological and mythological site in Arunachal Pradesh with a rich and ancient history. The ruins of the ‘Hill Fort’ made up of burnt bricks dates back to 12th century A.D. The fort which extends over an area of 10 sq. km., was excavated during 1969-1973 which yielded terracotta plaques, decorative tiles, potteries, terracotta figurines etc. Bhismaknagar finds reference in Bhagawad-gita and the Mahabharata. The Idu Mishmi tribe is associated with the legend of Rukmini Devi, King Bhismaka’daughter and Lord Krishna’s consort. It is believed that she was from this tribe. Popular legends and traditions identify the ruins of the fort as the site of the capital of King Bhismaka.

Bhismaknagar Fort, considered to belong to 8th century, is situated 30 km from Roing. The fort has been named the oldest archaeological site found here. The fort covers 1860.52 sq.meter of land and has three halls, two extension rooms and six entrances. The fort has two gates, the Eastern Gate and the Western Gate. The wall that protects the fort is made of bricks, mud and stone and the fort’s north has natural protection in the form of hills. It is a fine display of grandeur and cultural excellence of the bygone era. Excavations have unearthed terracotta plaque containing floral designs and animal designs, wheel turned pottery, inscribed bricks and many more. Bhismaknagar Fort is a sacred heritage of Idu Mishmis.
