Located along the Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail with a nice car park and toilet facilities. Not that remarkable as coastal lights go, but it is located on a very scenic section of dunes and beach that make it certainly worthy of a visit. It is...More

Access to Waipapa Point is down a few kms of gravel road (it's signposted from the main highway), and there's a Dept of Conservation car park and toilet at the end of the road. We had turned up expecting to see an emtpy beach but...More

Beautiful place with such a rugged coastline. Seals back into the cold weather and swimming. Accessible toilet though is NOT accessible as step up into toilet is very high.

After traveling down a gravel road for a few kms, you'll come to the free car park area along with wheelchair accessible toilets and info boards. A short walk to the lighthouse and the surrounding beach which is full of different life forms, lots of...More

Great spot for a journey break, walk or picnic. This is a VERY exposed place with no shelter or protection form any weather, take care. Lots of seals, some sea-lions and sea birds. Places to walk, rest & view or maybe fish. This is under...More

The seals were out in force when we went - it probably had to do with the amazing weather we were lucky enough to get that day! Even though you keep your distance for obvious reasons, their safety and yours, it is still a special...More

We were really hoping to see some seals in Waipapa point, but unfortunately, probably due to a rather windy day, the beach was totally empty. Still, the area is beautiful and the drive there produced several photo-ops.

lovely area, pretty much guaranteed to see sea lions. Lighthouse very picturesque. Good info in the little tourist area in the carpark. And a loo if you don't mind a wee breeze from the long drop. Doesn't smell.
