Beautiful monolithic nandi sculpture. Lepakshi is about 100kms from Bangalore. Good for one day trip. Nice scenery. Better to visit during winter.

It is the beginning of Lepakshi visit. It is said that the height of the sculpture is 200 metres and this is the largest monolithic Nandi in India.

The gigantic bull is a grand cut out sculpture of a huge granite rock. This monolithic scullture is a unique example of its kind in the country. It faces west and is looking towards the Nagalinga located behind the Veerabhadra Temple.

It takes 3 hours from Bangalore to reach Lepakshi, drive is superb. You may have some difficulty in getting a parking on weekends but weekdays generally there are no crowd.

As we enter Lapakshi, we are welcomed by this imposing and beautiful Nandi structure. Unlike other places/temples where Nandi statues have been built inside a hall/room, this Nandi is in the open. It is not hemmed in by other structures/walls etc. Hence its huge size...More

If you are visting Lepakshi, the first thing on entering the place you will find this on your right hand side. This is the biggest single stone carved Nandi. No Enty free, not crowded. Nice kept.
