Magic Ice, in Svolvær – the capital of Lofoten, offers you the pleasure of browsing ice art and coastal culture while enjoying a variety of refreshments. Sculptures and installations made of ice, dramatically lit and presented together with sound, music and images, tell the story of nature, traditions and the life of the fisherman in this abundant island realm. Magic Ice has an atmosphere that has to be experienced from the inside! It is more than just an “ice bar”, it is a crystal clear reflection of a distinctive community built on the riches of the sea – in the heart of the landscape where it all came to be.

Small, expensive, obviously freezing cold and I couldn't think of a better way to spend 1/2 hour off the ferry. The sculptures are very good and the staff are friendly. Go in one door to the terminal, out the opposite and turn sharp left -...More

We got off our Hurtigruten cruise ship in Svolvaer and decided to visit Magic Ice. It was quite expensive. We were dressed appropriately so didn't need to use one of the ponchos that were on offer (to borrow not to take away). We didn't spend...More

Situated almost on top of the Hurtigruten dock this takes about a minute to walk to even on the ice. It's a really cold (-6) small room with an ice bar. You get a fruit cordial drink as part of the entry and a range...More

Ice sculptors inside. For someone from Australia this was an experience. Again, with everything in Scandinavia, it was a bit pricy. They change the sculptors every 6 months though, so it will always be different. There is an ice bar inside too and a couple...More

Well worth seeing these sculptures, they are amazing. Also get a free alcoholic drink in an ice cup!

Normally I would avoid this kind of place - which screams tourist trap no matter how you look at it. And it is a tourist trap. But when you visit Svolvaer as part of your cruise on Christmas night when nothing (in Norway) is open...More
