We wanted to recover here after the long journey, but new sand was just applied. Everything was locked down. When we visited a few days later, the sand turned out to be a pebble. The beach was near our hotel, but we chose other (much nicer) beaches on the other side of the island.

St George's Bay is a lovely little bay with a cosy beach which can get quite crowded at times. Unfortunately, the beach is a bit scrubby and the sand could do with raking and cleaning each morning. Sunbeds and umbrellas can be hired from the little family run shop across the road from 5 Euros each per day.

Sandy beach on the heart in Paceville. Crowded all the time. You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas on a reasonable prices.
Water is sometimes dirty, when there are lots of people, so there are floating sunlotion on the surface of water.
Also i cant understand why people throw, bottlecaps and stuff on the beach when there are also trashbins nearby. SAD...

Surrounded by piers, ports and restaurants this beautiful bay is a great tourist attraction. There can be a little windy so dress accordingly, especially in winter. For great food and drinks in the area I'd recommend The Cuba restaurant, which offers amazing overview of the bay and the surrounding architecture.

We visited the bay often during our stay. We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel which has a private beach club here for residents with sun beds, a bar, restaurant and toilets. Lots of shops and bars here plus sops for the sightseeing buses.

We were stopping at the be.Hotel (which has 2 pools), however we thought we'd try the beach for a change. It was quite busy and the coarse sand is very rough on your feet.. The place is covered in cigarette butts and could do with a daily clean.. We also paid €32 for 4 sunbeds and umbrellas.. Suffice to say we didn't go back..

This must be the most disgusting beach I've ever seen, cigarette butt's everywhere with rubbish just left by groups of teenagers who love the beach for weed smoking and drinking. In two words a s___t hole.
If your wanting a pleasant place to walk around in the evening forget this place.
Also nearly forgot to mention all the building work going on around the 5* hotels

We walked round St Georges from our hotel to the town centre. Not very big but sandy and close to bards and restaurants. We did not try out the beach as it was November and had unseasonable rain. Some of the surrounding build are in need of sprucing up and or repair, some of this is already underway with some building works.

Overspill from the nightlife area, tacky, beach full of cigarette butts, loud music from beach goers and generally looking a bit seedy. Shame, some nice 5 star hotels within walking distance. Has potential if cleaned up and attendees behaviours improve.

The beach is disgusting. Absolutely covered in rubbish like bottle caps and packaging but worst of all are the cigarette ends. Being used to the cleanliness of our own local beach, Benone, in Northern Ireland I was shocked at the state of the beach. The local bay area is small but the people are friendly in the local cafes etc. Teenagers and twenty something's have taken the entire area and that's fine, I've two of my own but if you're after a more mature adult type area that isn't tacky clubs and thumping pop music this is not for you. Valetta is definitely a thousand times better. I'll finish by saying the local people that I have encountered are super friendly and helpful.

Our first visit to Malta. Purchased the weekly bus ticket online so getting around is sorted. Just wondered as our apartment doesn’t have a pool, is there somewhere like a public pool anywhere near St George’s beach?.Read that the beach is gritty. We are going to travel around the island so we will find the better beaches.
Written May 26, 2019
Not able to say. Beach is coarse sand, as are most of Malta's beaches. Buses excellent, beware of being told the "bus station " in St Julian's is round the corner, it's just a bustop opposite the big new supermarket where all routes stop.

C’est une plage avec du très gros sable, presque du petit gravier

Ciao a tutti.

Hi first time to Malta: we love to swim in the ocean and need recommendations for places to stay. The Corinth hotel on the bay has some good deals but it seems like the bay would not be good for long swims. Any suggestions. Is Gozo Island a better place to stay?
Written March 9, 2017

Where do you buy the week ticket for the buses?
Written November 4, 2016
Anywhere along the harbour. You will see guys standing along the streets selling boat trips and bus tickets
Hope this helps
