A lovely spot, very handy if staying at the Hilton. A number of restaurants around the marine and good photo opportunities (dodge the instagram fans, we saw two girls posing dozens of times in various places just to get the perfect pic!).
Worth a walk if you are in the area.

Excelent views and a lot of very nice boats (big ones) to see. Couple of restaurants too. Don't think there is a place to swim in here.

I was staying in Sliema and decided to take a walk and just follow the coastline so after walking past Balluta Bay then around to Spinola Bay i saw a gap in a building with some steps leading down to a marina and so i walked down them and found myself in Portomaso Marina. It is a wonderful place i have to admit and as i was walking round admiring all the luxury yachts the thought did pop into my head that if i was ever lucky enough to win the lottery i'd love to own one of the beautiful apartments so i could look down upon my yacht moored below!!!!! I was there on a Saturday morning in late November so there wasn't that many people about, but thought that on a lovely summer's evening it would be a great place to visit with all the lovely restaurants it has plus the stunning views.

It's rarely outside Hilton hotel, so if u staying there all you have to do just take a elevator down or walk through pool area. It is great if you like ships I have some nice photos after I have seen beautiful boats there. It's great for a little walk around it's not very long so don't expect spending hours there 20 minutes will do :)) but it's nice place and we had it outside of our hotel so really handy.

A very pituresque marina that you really would not know was there unless you stumble across it.
Half a dozen nice restuarants offering different cuisines and what a lovely view.

If you ask me this is a place for super rich people for few reasons, really clean place, really expensive boats and expensive properties.
Also the place has a swiming pool, showers, public toilets and nice places to walk to.

Nice area containing some high end hotels and restaurants/bars. Plenty of expensive boats in the 'harbour' to look at.

Portomaso Marina is flanked by blocks of apartments and Hilton hotel and is THE place for high life on the island of Malta. We took a stroll along the harbour to check out the luxurious yachts, hoping to continue our way towards Paceville. However, the boardwalk is blocked by a water sports center, where there is no gate or way to cross to the other side, which is a bit weird, so we had to go all the way back to Hilton.
It is a nice spot, worth checking out and quite romantic after dark.

Several restaurants to choose from. The view from all of them are wonderful. The area is a residential building - it is very calm and peaceful.

We are staying at the Cavalieri Hotel St Julian's. Is Portomaso Marina within walking distance? If so how long would it take?
Written February 24, 2018
Yes, it is just around the corner from you. 3 minutes by foot. Come out of the hotel, walk down the street, first right and you are there.

Which is a better area to stay - Portomaso Marina or Sliema Tigne Seafront?
Written June 10, 2016
It's a matter of personal preference. Portomaso is closer to the buzz of St Julian's and Paceville (nightlife, restaurants and what watersports there are). Sliema is more of a business centre as well as residential. It has more shops and is generally quieter, but does nevertheless have good restaurants. I don't know Tigne Point very well, but it is very modern and seems very expensive and a bit soulless (probably much quieter than Sliema itself). Parts of the Sliema Ferries/Waterfront area can have great views of Manoel Island and Valetta, and is a pretty lively area.

We will be staying at Portomaso marina next year and have read on the forum about a water taxi that takes you from the marina to Valletta. This sounds great but has anyone used this service, where do you get it from and does it go anywhere else.
Written September 22, 2015
It is located at he mouth of the marina, just below the swimming pools of the Hilton. It is expensive and I think that you can taylor your journeys at a price. I don't think that you can land at Valletta.
A day bus ticket costs 1 euro, 50 and you can travel the whole island on that ticket. Valletta bus station is just outside of the old town's walls and is a hop, skip and a jump into the town. We found that due to the large crowds waiting for busses to arrive, we caught a taxi back to St julians 20 euros well spent when you were tot and tired.
