we opted to use D1 Watersports at Portomaso to get to the Blue Lagoon as we had searched many other boat trips and they were all extremely expensive, took a long time to get there and most of them had bad reviews. D1 Watersports was advertised in our Hotel Radisson Blu St Julians so we decided to go with this company. It cost us 28 euros each, which compared with other trips such as the Hera cruises which cost 58 euros per person (double the price) this was extremely reasonable. We booked with our hotel concierge service and they arranged for a member of D1 Watersports to pick us up from the Hotel free of charge, this was excellent service and they arrived on time too.
The ride was brilliant we were in a 6 seater inflatable rib speed boat and we experienced a fantastic exhilarating ride. we firstly stopped at the Comino caves and with most boats as they are so big they cannot go very close but on this speed boat we went right into the caves, this was a great experience and a must see!! We then headed around to the Blue Lagoon, which because it did not take long to get there we beat the hundreds of tourists that flock to the Blue Lagoon all coming on the larger cruise boats, so we managed to get the best spot available right by the edge of the lagoon.
We spent 4 hours at the Lagoon before being picked up promptly to be taken back to St Julians, which is just enough time as there is nothing else here except the crystal clear water, so 4 hours is plenty of time.
Overall I would say this is the best way to get to the blue Lagoon, it is exciting, fast and cheaper than many other companies.

I love my time in Malta especially that on doorstep of my hotel was D1 company. I did jet ski 3 days in the row and second and third time I get some extra time free. they are very nice people and patient. As I have problem listening :D. Could do maximum speed on the sea, one guy was watching me just in case something happend so you not totally alone. Really nice service and great prices. 15 minutes jet ski only 35 euro so decent price :). thank you for making my holiday that much better :)))

Now called rush water sports at unit 6 porttomaso

Great half day on SACS 700 With driver for 8 . Visited really nice beaches for swimming

Very safe driver

I think the whole booking and arrival is as always a little bit unorganised with radios out of charge etc.

We had booked with D1. Upon agreed arrival time we have been left waiting for over 1h. Finally, we had been told that nothing will be available for the day anymore. Not an experience I wish to anyone!

Rented a Jet Ski from D1 which was a waste of money and zone enjoyment. I was never told before hand that the Ski would be set to L-mode which pretty much gives the ski just enough power to lift out of the water. I was asked did I have any experience which I told them I'd and was still giving this ski.

Secondly when I was returning the ski and trying to dock it as gentle as possible a young lad that had no idea started to shout at me like mad to stop, and as put my hand out to catch the dock he grabbed the right hand bar and while doing so gave the Ski full throttle while the ski was pointing at the wall, lucky I turned the ski off before anything dangerous happened.

I would of at the time given out about the ski being in L-mode but after seeing how this member of staff had been trained I couldn't see the point.

D1 Watersports is located at the Portomaso marina, adjacent to the Hilton Hotel's Merkanti Beach Club. We wanted to get a water taxi to Valletta, and the staff were great - helpful and friendly. We had to wait 10 minutes while they finished final checks on the boat (really not a problem) and then had an exhilarating ride from Portomaso to the waterfront in Valletta. It really is the best way to approach Valletta - the views are stunning. Our skipper was young and friendly; chatting to us all the way but leaving is to enjoy the views in peace when we wanted. We were asked what time we wanted picking up (they prefer to pick up on the hour), which was fine and suited us. We were prepared for the pick up to be a little late (it was mid-afternoon in the Med after all), but despite being very short-staffed our boat arrived as planned. A different skipper this time, but equally as friendly and chatted to us about his time in England, yet another example of how friendly Maltese people are towards tourists. We had shared a boat to Valletta, but it was just the three of us on the way back; skimming the waves and enjoying the glorious sunshine. Price was very reasonable - 15 euros each (return)- which was better than the taxi we had later in the week, which cost us 25 euros for a single trip. As good as the taxis are in Malta (and they're great), there's something special about arriving in a speedboat! Would thoroughly recommend this company.

We rented a boat for a day, but they didn't provide any tips or guidance for what to see. The owner was quite rude in his way of addressing us. We have rented boats before and these were the most worn out and dirty we have experienced. They hadn't even cleaned the wind screen. However the boat was quite fast.

We hired a self-drive boat to visit Comino and see the caves, Blue Lagoon etc. The freedom to try to avoid the crowds (it's was a Sunday in July) was great and it only took approx 30 mins to get to Comino from Portomaso so we had plenty of time to swim. The boat was good and the engine ran well, but the anchor was too small for the size of boat so it did not hold well - my own boat is smaller and I use an anchor twice the size! Also, the fuel gauge on the boat was broken so we had no idea how much fuel we had on board. Apparently 'plenty', but I like to know myself. Finally, the method for charging for fuel seems a bit inaccurate - "Where have you been? OK, that's X euros". I deliberately drove at an economical speed, but would have been charged the same for fuel if we'd gone everywhere at max speed! I would also have liked a proper marine chart, but they suggested I take photo of the cartoon map on the reception wall on my phone. We managed to find everywhere we wanted to see, but only by using the maps/gps on my phone. As another reviewer has said, a fresh water rinse of the windscreen before departure would have helped. There's not much point having a comfortable seat if you have to stand to see where you're going.
It was a great trip that we really enjoyed, but some small improvements to the boat hire would have made it perfect!

Four of us rented a day boat. It was a lot faster than we expected and gad great fun stopping at various swimming spots including the blue lagoon.

We could have done with a bit more advice on where to moor up especially at Gozo.

We took a picnic lunch which was handy due to the mooring issues.

Overall a fun day out which would have been 5 star with more guidance from D1.
