I cannot in fairness call it an excellent museum, but it is very interesting and better than average in both exhibits and authentic artifacts. If you are driving to Alta and are not rushed for time, it is worth a brief stopover especially if you...More

Well worth a visit, the museum is small but with plenty of exhibits and a very interesting film. It could be improved by having some information about other related places to visit in the area.

Nice short museum experience. 6 rooms of second world war stuff. Video presentation of destroying Tirpiz. When you are there, definitely worth visiting. 30 / 60 min stop.

We visited the museum on a rainy day. It was time well spent, rain or shine. The museum is an architectural masterpiece, constructed ( by Bjarke Ingels) around a World War II. The museum exhibit covers the coastal history of Denmark and features a beautiful...More

Believe the opening periods on the website and disregard information on Google that might tell you that the museum is 'open today'. Norwegians have education holidays much earlier than in the UK. The museum is closed after 15th August and doesn't open again until next...More

We went through early in week two of operation and it was already busy. The building is sympathetic to the landscape and the social history is told in a way that engages you as you wander through. The AV show is well worth a watch.

Yes, as the answer you have already. He's a nice guy and will likely open up anyway. I wasn't keen, but it's actually very good and provides you with a startling perspective on what looks like an idyllic fjord.
