The castle of Puisserguier dates from 1083 and has a reference in the history of the crusade againts the cathares and Simon de Montfort army. Home of the earls of Narbonne not far from Carcassonne ans Beziers the building has been renewed in the 17th century in the heart of a circulade close to the canal du Midi.

I don't really know what the other reviewers saw that we didn't but even though it is free there is only about 15 minutes worth of anything to see - one small room with some artefacts and an empty courtyard.

This worthwhile historic castle can be viewed year round [with restricted times]-- please check the hours of operation first]. While not on the busy tourist routes it is part of the pilgrims walk to Santiago de Compostela. The surrounding town is also of considerable interest......More
