Make sure you go early in day or in evening to have time with the trees by yourself ... then breathe in their majesty.

This wasn't the biggest of the trees in the area but it's still a fantastic walk and I'd highly recommend doing if you're here!

The yakas walk is one of the longer ones. But you'll be rewarded with the most beautiful of the kauris. And you might be alone with it there.

Easy going walk, none strenuous. Real back to nature. Weather your in a large group or just a couple these walks will have something for everyone

This walk is amazing through the kauri forest. Some parts are on boardwalks to help preserve the forest and when you get to the end it will all be worth it to see this huge tree. Fascinating.

Yakas is the 7th largest Kauri in the area about 134m2 of wood. Not close to the size of Tane or Te Matua Ngahere, never the less he stands majestic, about 40 min walk down the track, in the same area as Te Matua. Take...More
