A very pleasant visit for champagne tasting - a six flute experience which we shared - the explanation of the wines was somewhat curt but the glasses were marked with the individual varietals. The village of Hautvillers where this is situated is a wonderful place...More
Write as I sip from the bottle of Didier Herbert Pinot Noir that I bought following a tasting. This was our second visit to Au 36 and although the taster menu hadn’t changed, it was still an absolute pleasure to linger again. Thoroughly recommend.
Au 36 did not disappoint after I read some reviews and decided to visit. I had the degustation which was delicious and it offered just enough of each dish to experience variety and the unusual for an Aussie abroad. Great staff and being able to...More
We had the 4 glass tasting menu and it was very good, interesting on how the blends change the taste. Staff are lovely and unpretentious, food was good; do pay them a visit and choose some great fizz from smaller producers if you so choose.
Visited this place twice over a weekend.
First time ordered the Dom Perignon 2006 vintage for tasting (expensive stuff). Expected to get a bit more info about this the tasting around the vintage etc. Not even the usual complimentary bread served at tastings or at...More
Our tour guide Clément from Instants Tours brought us here where we enjoyed a lovely pairing of local specialties with a selection of Champagnes. Lovely little town, and wonderful little restaurant. Excellent service. Could not ask for more!
Nice lunch of sharing plates of duck and cheese, all ingredients fresh and tasty, as part of a champagne tasting menu. Atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. The manager in the shop below was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his subject, very helpful and informative.
This was much better than tastings downtown Epernay. Being in champagne is the best way to understand the wine. But it can be difficult to know what you like. A tasting at Au 36 is recommended. Madame will guide you through the different grapes. When...More

I must admit we didn't book and just rocked up....lunch was upstairs and we were the only guests. As it's off the beaten track I don't think you will have too much trouble getting a table.Only problem may be that they are shut and gone on holidays, but I wouldn't think so in September. We also went along to the church in the village to see Dom Perignon's grave.
