We were staying at the Islay House, on whose grounds this garden is located. It's a very impressive community garden, and fruits and vegetables can be picked, weighed out and paid for on the honor system. We found ourselves going back a couple times to...More

Nice looking veg and fruit. Pricey but fresh. Would recommend if you wanted good local fresh produce. The ground are lovely and does need work but they are getting there and I celebrate the hard work that is being done.

We always visit here and see many improvements over the years. It has an honesty box policy, very unusual in this day and age. The strawberries are what we go for and they are excellent, pick your own and leave the money in the box....More

We found the Gardens when we were wandering around from our hotel, Islay House, that is adjacent. We've been heavily involved in establishing Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) in the United States and so we appreciated what we saw here. For the average tourist, this might...More

Best part was opening the door in the wall and being overwhelmed by the scale of what's behind. Beautiful dilapidation and ongoing care to look after the gardens. Well worth a visit.

We went over there when we discovered a reference to it in a local eatery menu so we though we might investigate, my other half is a head gardener of an Estate in Devon and is often disappointed with what she sees , and I...More

We walked round this lovely, part walled garden. As a community garden you take produce that is available and pay in the 'honesty box'. What a gem, well worth a visit.

I visited on a cold, gray wintry day but was charmed by this lovely spot. Its imposing walls don't really let on to how huge the garden is. Even when nothing is in bloom and most plants are ready for winter, it's still a peaceful,...More

As we visited in Autumn - the garden did not show that the owner is a gardener. In other words, there was little to view. The outer buildings were in a state of disrepair , needing much attention. A disappointing visit when we had come...More
