More
The Alutiiq Museum preserves and shares the heritage and culture of the Alutiiq people. We are a small, but Nationally-accredited Alaska Native-run museum, archaeological repository, and culture center. Our gallery features exhibits telling the Alutiiq story - the incredible history of the Indigenous, coastal Alaska Native people of the stormy Gulf of Alaska. The Alutiiq Museum Store features an unexpectedly rich offering of authentic Alaska Native art and jewelry, that supports the work of artists from around the archipelago. Our educational programs explore traditional and contemporary Alutiiq arts and skills, and they are open to everyone. We are committed to creating respect and enthusiasm for Alutiiq culture among people of all heritages. Takina! You should Come!

The Alutiiq Museum is a tough place to review. I'd heard a lot about it before I visited Kodiak, and I guess no place can live up to a lot of hype. My first reaction when I got inside was, "This is it?" It's a...More

While small, this museum is loaded with information and artifacts. There are activities for kids such as making a petroglyph rub. There were short films on the recording of the petroglyphs and reviving the dances of the Alitiiq. Wonderful examples of boats, clothing and fishing...More

This museum is fairly on the small side, but filled with excellent information about the dying culture of the Alutiiq people. I really like what they are trying to do in order to preserve their heritage for future generations. There was a lot of excellent...More

Well worth a visit. Yes it's a small museum but its engaging exhibits use multimedia as well as interactive activities to tell the history and culture of the Alutiiq on Kodiak, so there is something for everyone in varied group. The gift shop has reasonably...More

I was expecting more. It was small 2 room area with mostly movies to watch. Not comfortable seating. Good activities for young children to keep them entertained for a little bit. Wouldn't return.More

We are sorry you did not enjoy your visit. Perhaps you would prefer one of our interactive programs, like stone knife making, plant medicines, or a tour of our lab and collections space. The facility is small, but staffed with some amazing museum folks who...More

Great small museum with interesting artifacts from the Alutiig people. I really enjoyed watching and listening to the videos as Alutiig reminisced about earlier and present times in their lives.
