We were recommended to visit by a friend and were blown away. Beautiful setting and incredibly well kept local landmark. Easily navigated and lots to see, where were the crowds?! Would benefit from a small snack offering.

Lovely Chateau in the Dordogne, well laid out and with a good free guide in your mother tongue. Allow 2-3 hrs for a leisurely stroll exploring this fine Chateau.

This 13th century castle looks like every film-set castle you've ever seen! It's situated alone on the top of a hill with obvious defence in mind. Intact walls and a big gateway, you could imagine "Game of Thrones" using it as a set. It has...More

We went on a very hot day so the coolness inside the chateau was very welcome. The chateau tour was without a guide but easy to follow. Several stairways, beautiful furniture and wall coverings, interesting information sheet in different languages. The gardens are well tended...More

There are grander chateaux to visit in the Dordogne but this gem is presented a lot better than many others. No audio guide, but at the gate you will be offered a sheet with a translation of enough of the panels in French to make...More

Towards the end of the 18th century, the Salignacs left the castle; during the Revolution, it was transformed into a farm where silkworms were raised. The Maleville restored it in the middle of the 19th century. Today, it... More
