Nice walk up to the fort. You can’t actually go into the fort itself and we could only find one information sign for the place, which was interesting but would have been nice to see more. There are cool little tunnels you can walk in...More

Drove out to the fort, parking was a bit of a challenge as it gets busy and it’s free. Once parked walked up to the fort and enjoyed views back over the marina and then out to the bay with Charles Fort on the other...More

Amazing how they lived and worked in these forts. It was like a small city! Soldiers barracks, family housing, hospital.

The smaller pentagonal shaped James Fort across the bay from the huge Charles Fort was not open when we visited but nonetheless it was still worth a visit. The view from the waterside across th Charles Fort is also pretty impressive.

Perfect for walks, exploring and getting the best views in Kinsale. I’ve been visiting Kinsale since 2009 and this location appears to be improving each year due to work being carried out within the grounds. Highly recommended!

The bartender at our hotel recommended that we walk up to the James Fort to have a look around. It was wet and chilly the morning we were there, but we were glad we took her advice. The only complaint I have is that it...More

We were passing by Kinsale so decided to check out the town and some local attractions. Lovely walk and view over the town.
