Mahaba was my favourite of the four islands, but that was in no small part due to the fact that I spent the most time there.
Digyo is recommended for people who want to camp, but we sought special permission to camp on Mahaba. We were told we’d be doing so at our own risk because, unlike at Digyo, there are no people here to look out for your welfare once the boat leaves.

It’s a beautiful island with a very nice beach and some nice bird life, but it was the snorkelling here that I most enjoyed. There’s a very steep drop-off a short distance out from the beach which would require diving equipment to explore properly, but everywhere else was perfect for snorkelling. For me the highlights included seeing; a yellow-lipped sea krait, a moray eel, mantis shrimp and a lion fish.

I’ve wrote separate reviews on the other islands in the group but if you only have the option to visit just one of these islands this is the one I’d recommend above the others.

This island - 'Mahaba' means 'long' - has a good white sand beach and a toilet.

Snorkelling is not fantastic at any of the three Cuatro Islas that I visited, but Digyo was the best and Mahaba second best.

Waters were lovely for swimming.

Bangkas depart from the foreshore near Inopacan Memorial Hall and cost P5000 for a crewed boat seating 36 or 60 while a smaller bangka with room for up to 16 passengers is P2500 for the day. There is an environmental fee of P60 per person.

Cuatro Islas is definitely one of the beautiful islands in the Philippines. The ugly side of these islands is it's filled with "hidden charges". When you arrive at one of the islands, you will be forced to pay a "donation" of 50 pesos. Every time you use the ONLY comfort room in the island, you have to pay 5 pesos. Renting a tent is 200 pesos AND you have to pay additional 50 pesos for the space. Using "rain water" for a bath is 40 pesos while 80 pesos for a jug of drinking water. Cooked rice per kilo is 50 pesos. If you want them to cook food for you, you have to pay EVERY ingredient that they will use in cooking food. The only thing that is missing is charging for the air that you breath as well. Instead of enjoying your vacation in these islands, you will be facing hidden charges from almost everything in Cuatro Islas. The people there are so corrupt and only wants your money. They are the ones who will kill tourism in Cuatro Islas. My advice, stay away from Cuatro Islas! The hassle and stress from these hidden charges is not worth the beautiful beaches and all. Just forget this one.

Of all the islands in Cuatro Islas, Inopacan, Mahaba Island offers the perfect spot for swimming and lounging around. With the fine sand and crystal clear waters, a day trip to this island is just wonderful. NOTE: bring your own supplies because there are no stores to buy from in this island

This is the most beautiful among Cuatro Islas. The island is totally unspoilt (no cottages, stores, etc) which makes it really clean - no trashes! Sand is fine and nice and water is crystal clear. It's also a great place for snorkeling. Lots of scenic coral reef areas and fish to see!

No comfort room, no deepwell, no cottages. Bring all your supplies like lamps, tents and food. You can camp overnight here for free. There are 2 stores at the far end of the island. One is easily accessible the other one is farther out and you'll need a local to guide you since the trail isnt that obvious. Bring mosquito repellant, there are so many mosquitos! There are no lights on the island so it's best to go there before dark so you can set up. There are no cottages to rent, just 1 shaded picnic area. There are lots of trees to shade you from the sun. The beach has some trash littered around like cigarette butts, broken bottles and discarded slippers. It seems like the locals don't bother to clean the beach front. Tourists should clean as they go, which is the responsible thing to do, and not leave trash behind.

The beach is beautiful. I wouldn't say i'd go back because there are so many prettier beaches and just as serene around visayas. Boat ride here for overnight or island hopping is fixed at 2,500 pesos.
