As there isn't much there, it's not worth making the effort to go unless you're just passing. It is free to go in, but there is only one wall standing, plus there are several interactive information posts, but they are broken!

Entry to the castle is free and as many have already said there’s really only one wall of the original castle left, but there’s lots of historic information available so it is well worth a short visit. We spent under an hour and that was...More

While Carmarthen castle has an impressive history there’s not actually that much left to explore. The most impressive remain are the large gatehouse which you can climb up using a modern staircase. There is a small visitor centre where the staff are really friendly telling...More

Guided tours are usually run in the summer and are really informational! Even through the winter, there are notice boards supplying historical information! Worth a visit!

Only a small part of the castle is left but it is still worth a visit, specially as it brings to life some of of the people who lived in Carmarthen in the past.

Castle!? It's just a wall! Absolutely nothing there! Seriously don't recommend visiting, it's a waste of time.

There is not a lot of castle left ,but reading the story's of the pop up figures dotted round you find how hard life was for the Welch people years ago. Good view of the river from top and excellent tourist information office, the staff are...More

Not much remains of Carmarthen Castle, Cromwell and his boys saw to that, but there are interesting bits in it, not least as it was used as the County Jail for a number of years. Make sure you climb the stairs to the top of...More

Sorry, this should read Carmarthen, a typo which unfortunately is hard to rectify.
