For a start - this museum is adjacent to one of the iconic historical sites of Western Europe. It has a great range of displays of various types but especially the uniforms of all the sides in the original Battle (of Waterloo). The highlight was...More

We arrived quite late but in time to climb the memorial. I found it disconcerting that people were eating snacks at the top and larking about as I had expected a degree of solemnity. Despite that, the height gives an excellent over-view of the battlefield....More

My husband and I visited the museum, memorial and surrounding area and it was really worth the time and money! The main museum and Hougoumont are both great. Very well done and interactive. Climbing the 226 steps to the top of the monument is a...More

I have wanted to visit this site for quite a few years as I had seen the memorial from the highway. I did not know there was also a museum there. It is very well laid out and has a very excellent explanation of the...More

An excellent museum, very well laid out and with superb exhibitions. The museum is clean and tidy with a good mix of interactive/informative exhibits. Finishing off with a steep 226 step climb to the lions mound . Highly recommend.

Outstanding museum. Very well done mannequins with uniforms. 5D animations makes you feel you were in the battle (3D + smells/smoke + rambling floor during cavalry charge). Big 360 degree diorama very well done. Then there is a 3D goggles presentation which is also very...More

The museum covers multiple historical aspects leading up to the battle in a manner that is both informative and keeps your attention. It is worth the wait for the next showing of the 3D film. The walk up the stairs to the top of the...More

What a location. A mix of memorial, museum, interactive exhibits, 3D film and of course 226 steps to the Lion. This is a must visit if you are in the area. We did it easily by public transport from Brussels at a 10 euro day...More

We had a great experience - and did not do any kind of formal tour. You can see all of the exhibits, go to the top of the mound, etc. without any kind of guide. We did the 3-D movie as well. Definitely no tour... More
