I have never been so interested in history as I was at this museum. The way the story was told was so clever. You had your own voice guide. There was places you could put the voice guide in and it let you do quizzes....More

This experience takes at least two hours and if you go through faster, you are cheating yourself. This is the best, most thorough, and insightful overview of the Napoleanic era that I have experienced. You are witness to the philosophies giving Napolean his rise to...More

After a lovely lunch there and a walk around we went to Hougemont farm which was pivotal in the whole battle. The film experience in the barn is unbelievably atmospheric and is an absolute must see. The memorial statue is really beautiful too.

If you are in reasonable health, it's worth the climb to the top. The memorial itself is impressive, but what's even better is the view of the surrounding farmland where the battle took place. It's easy to imagine the troop placements from both sides, and...More

This museum is extremely modern and offers a very interactive visit. The audio guides are available in several languages. My whole family loved it, including the young adults of 18 and 19.

The museum part of the memorial is underground. You can take an audio tour through the museum which features a detailed history of the Napoleonic Wars leading up to the battle at Waterloo. It is very detailed and educational. The museum then leads you through...More

A really short drive, and you'll reach Waterloo, about 15 km away from Bruxelles, where the "Lion Mound" dominates the plains where Napoleon's defeat took place. Built as a symbol of the 1815 victory over Napoleon, the Memorial is a monumental lion on a 40-metre...More
