Discovered during building work in the 1950's, Caister's Roman Fort is now well-preserved. The remains are little above the ground, but the information boards offer an insight into how the place could have looked in Roman times.

There is a good carpark but involves a bit of walking to fort but well worth the time for the view over the Waveney and Yare valleys.

If you've not been to many roman forts this is a good start but it's not as detailed as some others in England and therefore was a little bit of a let down for me.

Its not the biggest place but its very interesting with boards explaining what the remains are etc. There are only a few parking places in a layby but there is ample on road parking.

Very interesting ruins that show some of the amazing history of this area of Britain. Information boards guide you through what you're looking at, and because you can get down and walk amongst the ruins it helps you visualize what once was. Although really interesting,...More

This is a fascinating place. It is well looked after and has good information boards. It is simply presented, no all singing, all dancing interactive exhibitions here, just a chance to take in a site that was built around AD200 and that is still here...More

This English Heritage site has free access. It's worth 10 minutes if you are passing but other than the notice boards there is little else. It's clear it is not treated with respect as dog poop is a real issue. There is free parking alongside...More

We stopped off for a nosey! Simple but educational for the children. Free and a small car layby to park on!
