The Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a rehabilitation facility offering injured, orphaned and imprinted wild animals a safe haven; temporarily while they heal or permanently as they are unable to survive on their own.We are extremely proud that 90% of all the animals brought to us for rehabilitation are successfully released back into their native environment. Those that remain with us on exhibit are either too injured or have been imprinted by humans and can not be released back into the wild to care for themselves.

Animals seemed to be well cared for, with a larger variety than we expected. The prices was a bit high for the experience, but overall the family enjoyed it.

This is the way all zoos should be...about helping animals and restoring them back to health and then releasing them back to their natural habitat if possible. The enclosures were clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and informative. The animals seemed happy and...More

We always make it a habit to visit the zoo when we visit Big Bear! We love that they rescue and take in wounded animals. It is a small zoo so you can really see the animals up close. The presentations are always adorable and...More

Great little zoo with many unexpected animals to see... A snow leopard and a chinchilla... best thing to do is bring your lunch in to have a picnic during your visit.

Came to zoo for my daughter, turned out it was really a nice small zoo. Coming from San Diego.. Can’t compare the 2 . But great up close and personal.

I don't remember any signs talking about dogs but with the wild animals there I'd leave any pet dogs home. It doesnt seem safe.

One hour is sufficient to see all the animals. It might take longer if the zoo has many visitors and if more time is spent on each animal.
