Welcome to the Tower Museum “Auf Schoenburg” The museum is open on all days during the hotel saison except Mondays! The old gate tower tells the visitors about its 700-year history and reveal that Schoenburg was one of the few castles that could really defend in case of emergency ! A great slingshot simulation shows how to knight times they besieged and destroyed a castle. At the top level of the tower is the observation deck that shows a breathtaking view of the Rhine Valley. We are looking forward to your visit!

Mr. Von Osterroth engaged our imagination and connected us with the physical structure. The children liked the interactive items. I appreciated the explanation of the double gates. It is about a 30 minute visit.

I have never been spoken to in that manner before. The lady in the shop is rude, nasty, ignorant and has a problem with English people. I was so angry and shocked but managed to hold my cool.

To be honest for the price you pay ( 3 euros) its worth going up! If you stay at the hotel you will have the same view from some rooms but as a visitor it is fun. Not suitable for people with ,walking difficulties'. But...More

Schönburg was one of the few castles which was actually properly equipped to defend itself. Each floor gives you some insight on castle history and life in the tower. One of the floors has a catapult connected to a computer screen and you can simulate...More

It's a small museum but the history of this tower is amazing. It's a nice little climb to the top. Don't expect a grand walk through as it's mainly just climbing up steps. Well worth the dollars we paid in my opinion!

This tower has substantial history dating back to the 11th century. Most of it is visibly explained in this museum. The visitors become acquainted with almost 10 centuries of history. The tower is certainly worth the effort climbing to the top. To preserve its original...More
