The New Residence is the seat and home of Bamberg's Prince Bishops. Impressive in many ways unfortunately the rear rose garden was under snow in the winter.

Neue Residenz was located near to Bamberg Cathedral. The roll of medieval structures was very impressive from outlook. Due to time constraint, we just took a few photos from outside and left the place. Will come back again in future.

Visited as part of an included tour on Viking River Cruise. Well renovated, the gilded mirror room worth the visit, beautiful gardens.

Another building that set out to mimic Versailles, but didn't make it. It is nonetheless a very impressive structure and has the added attraction of a beautiful rose garden at the rear, which is quite beautiful.

Our tour of this residence included the story of how the owner wanted to build a three sided palace in the design of Versailles, only to run out of time and /or money. The protruding timbers on the front wall are evidence that construction of...More

Impressive building located in close proximity to the cathedral and Old Courtyard. Very similar in appearance to the Residenz building in Wurzburg but certainly not as large. Didn’t have time to visit inside during our guided tour but would visit next time. Adjacent rose garden...More

The palace is a great building, certainly worth visiting. However, the way the visits are arranged is a bit strange. First you have to wait in a part of the palace with dozens of beautifull paintings. But after we saw about a quarter of them,...More

Didn't go inside, but the building is magnificent. Be careful as what looks like a cobblestone public square also has roads going through it, and the markings for the roads are hard to distinguish from the public area.

It is a big and beautiful building, but we did not really get a clear impression due to reconstruction works. Also did not go inside, because of lack of time, but the rose garden is for sure an amazing place worth visiting!

We went in here as it was threatening rain and thought it would pass an hour or so. Very glad we did, it was wonderful. We were early so not too crowded, and a tour was about to start. It was in German, but the...More

Why can you not supply the same amount of information, in other languages, to all visitors, you only cater for German native speakers, I know enough to get by in the language but the dialect Spoken was too difficult, I was told on paying at front desk it's no problem as other language guides are available, these are not guides, one told you dimensions of a room? Why would we want to know bedroom is 90sq m? The guide is informing on many things, she is so rushed through the many rooms she cannot take time for anyone. You take money from tourists to the town but you are not catering for them, if you continue to do this negative reviews will be posted and no visitors will come, is this the way forward? What do you do when people come from Viking river cruises? Or do they not? I look forward to hearing from you

I agree with your comments. For a international orientated place as Bamberg (as in tourists from all places) I also found the information in other languages not sufficient. That should be no problem, but the information... More

Hello. There is no english only tour. As you enter each wing of the building there are cards in english you can read as you move from room to room. Our tour guide spoke english and was able to answer any questions we had.
