Overview
More
From the 10th century onwards, this town became an important link with the Slav peoples, especially those of Poland and Pomerania. During its period of greatest prosperity, from the 12th century onwards, the architecture of Bamberg strongly influenced northern Germany and Hungary. In the late 18th century it was the centre of the Enlightenment in southern Germany, with eminent philosophers and writers such as Hegel and Hoffmann living there.

Small but beautiful old town. However, very crowded, specially on the weekends. Stroll along the river and enjoy the view over the big city.

An amazing town with lots of original architecture and buildings. Old & New Palaces as well as the rose gardens, historic breweries coble stone streets and stone bridges. The Altes Rathaus (Old City Hall) is built on an island and is a stunning

With the Old Residents/old town and its Dom. One of the most prettiest sightseeing towns there is. Romance, kind people, good food everywhere and the blue and brown houses on the city center What else? Nothing! Just go and enjoy!! I love Bamberg

Bamberg is a beautiful town and the Altes Rathaus on the island is just amazing. You can get a great view of it from the wooden bridge (this is where the photos are always taken from). Great pubs, beautiful church, wonderful to just wander around.

Bamberg offers a unique opportunity to expore an authentic old town without the maddening tourist crowds one can find in other ancient cities like Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany or Krumau in the Czech Republic. We arrived by car and there a few centrally...More

We took a four hours walk around the town. Lots of beautiful buildings and bridges with histories. Must visit the Old City Hall which is built in the middle of the river, on an artificial island.
