Overview
More
From the 10th century onwards, this town became an important link with the Slav peoples, especially those of Poland and Pomerania. During its period of greatest prosperity, from the 12th century onwards, the architecture of Bamberg strongly influenced northern Germany and Hungary. In the late 18th century it was the centre of the Enlightenment in southern Germany, with eminent philosophers and writers such as Hegel and Hoffmann living there.

Mid span over the Regnitz River sits Bamberg's celebrated Old City Hall, the Altstadt. Built in two stages, the half-timbered section dates from 1440, the rest added in 1668, the Altstadt carries its own legend of creation. The story tells of the citizens of Bamberg...More

One of the most beautiful town centers to visit, history is everywhere, and you can feel how much effort was put into preserving the town’s medieval architecture and vibe.

This is a must do photo op but not much else to do there. Walk through then walk around to the other bridge for the best photo.

Lovely little house right next of the canal. The building was very unique and beautiful. Easy access from both sides of the bridge.

Never having been in Bamberg before, we were surprised at the friendliness of this palce, which really breaths history, while at the same time giving a 'young' atmosphere; being a university town, there are a lot of young people and the streets, shops and restaurants...More

A very picturesque and beautiful city. Great place for an afternoon walk. Lots to see and do along the river walk. Great for pictures. Also lots of restaurants to choose from.

It is World Heritage and boy! I hardly ever agreed more fully with a commitee. Bamberg is simply beautiful and stunning. Everything is neatly put to its place and very pitoresque, the skyline, the palace mountain, the croocked alleys with nothing younger then 150 years,...More
