In a country famous for high church paraphernalia it's whats known as the ' low church' that makes the trip worth it. The crypt beneath what looks like the main event is, in fact, the earliest church and the vaulting and decoration is worth the...More

This is a very fine crypt dating back around a 1000 years. Tip - the light switch is on a timer and to your left on the way in! Worth spending time to look at the carvings on the pillars. The church above looks closed...More

A nice church to escape from the midday sun into. Pretty stained glass. Unfortunately the crypt was empty when we had a look (hoping this was intentional!) but overall a nice little visit. Free to enter when we went.

We found this church by accident. We'd been to the Amphitheatre & were following brown tourist signs for somewhere else when the path branched & the church & Crypt were signed off to our right. As we'd been walking along we'd already seen the church...More

The crypt is a significant piece of Romanesque architecture. It is extremely dark inside - but the floor is level and there is a light to switch on. The capitals are gorgeous examples from the period . There are some really unique ones and also...More

This is probably an average church of which there are hundreds all over France. The best bit is the Crypt underneath, reached by a door alongside the building. It is dark, with a sloping ramp down to the floor. There are a few side altars...More
