This was a watchtower constructed in 1214. It dominates the square that it is placed in. It was used as the Calais lighthouse until 1848, when the new lighthouse was lit. The tower is illuminated at night. It is a very historical tower and worth...More

Looking at it from a distance at night with the fountains in front of it and the lights on the tower is truly an amazing view.

The tour du guet is located in the place d'armes in the centre of Calais. It is a watch tower from a 13th century castle and is 35 metres high. An awesome structure.

Highly rated tourist location overlooks the Dear Gaul statue much more recent and far from being as beautiful as the tower. It's a survived many conflicts and is a credit to English building and French maintenance.

This lighthouse and part of the nearby church were pretty much the only things not razed to the ground in WW2. Silently watching over in Place D'Armes since Roman times, parts of the current structure date back to the 1300's. You can't go up the...More

The history of this tower is amazing, it has survived pretty much everything we and the Germans have thrown at it over the years. There is nothing to do other than see it though.
