As always, beautifully maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. A sad but poignant reminder of the young me who lost their lives in WW1

This war grave is combined with a shell crater to make a memorial with a difference, Personally I prefer the more rugged appearance of shell craters and this one looks a little artificial since the base has been levelled out, but as a memorial it...More

A somewhat less dramatic setting for the fallen of WW1 this is really just a hole, literally a crater, with a wall surrounding it and a small monument. It is only marked with a very small sign right at the entrance so we missed it...More

A bit of a challenge to find and access but I am glad we did. Like all Commonwealth memorials this is immaculately maintained despite being a challenge to access. Very moving and different way to memorialize fallen soldiers.

It took us awhile to find this spot. A bit of a disappointment. Just a hole in the ground. I would suggest that if you want a leisurely drive in the beautiful countryside and don't expect too much, check it out

A significant war event has been fittingly recognised in this immaculately maintained memorial. Worth a detour.

we made a road trip from Paris to Vimy, and along the way stopped at multiple craters and war sites. Arras, of all the towns offered us the most and this crater is amazing. the preservation of the site is impeccable.

This was such an unusual cemetery because I had never seen something like this. It was beautifully built and well looked after. Bless them all and the earth.

I had an interesting time finding this Canadian cemetery. There is no sign at the turn-off. Note: If you are traveling from Neuville-Saint-Vaast to Thelus, along the D49, take the turn-off to a construction site on your right, before you go over the bridge crossing...More

Saw this from the road as we passed, turned and went to visit. Well what can I say, after visiting both Vimy Ridge and Thiepval. This tiny tiny memorial is just mind blowing. Please visit and just sit quietly in remembrance.

You can certainly grab a taxi from the main rail station or from your hotel. However, I would recommend renting a car as it is easier and you won't have the time constraints to worry about. As for a hotel, I would recommend... More
