Somehow we left with the feeling that this museum (a rather unique but uninvitingly dark building) houses the „left-overs“ – that is what the artist or his Gallerists couldn’t sell and finally “donated” to the museum. The early works (mostly without any title as to...More

Quite an achievement to show the greatest part of Soulages ' work. Excellent lighting. Another temporary exhibition of Le Corbusier's early works was a bonus.

I'm not a big fan of Pierre Soulages' work, of which I wouldn't even be familiar except for this museum and that awful gray stained glass he installed at Conques. But we finally visited "his" museum, mainly to see the Le Corbusier exhibit and as...More

Whether or not you're a big fan of contemporary art doesn't really matter in this case because the venue itself is absolutely worth a visit. The architecture blends incredibly within the rest of the city and brings a touch of both modernism and authenticity. The...More

We were surprised with this museum. The artist is modern and exciting, the building also amazing. A must see if you are in the area!

I think that perhaps Monsieur Soulages spent much of his life feeling quite depressed as most of his work was done in black black or black paint. The building itself is suitably rusty looking. This is the sort of arty farty place that might leave...More

We were attracted by the exposition of Calder and we were rewarded: interesting expo. Soulages is of local importance, mostly the same works.

Loved this museum with its subdued lighting to showcase the expressionist paintings of Soulages. The building itself is an exciting destination for lovers of modern architecture with clean lines. Great restaurant too. A ticket here also covers the Musée Fenaille.

We discovered the works of Soulages for the 1st time, plus the temporary exhibition. Well presented and explained, in written French and English. Also staff very friendly and interactive. Housed in a purpose built impressive modern building, which now I've seen Soulages' works, I can...More
