I’ve visited many great places and this certainly ranks among the very best. I would describe it as accessible wilderness. Mountain peaks, alpine fauna, lakes, waterfalls. Miles of varied hiking routes. Tele-cabin and chair-lift, hard or gentle paths, it’s whatever you want it to be....More

Wow wow wow.. what a beautiful place. The town of Cauterets at the bottom of the mountain is gorgeous with plenty of free entertainment offered in the evening for children. The hike up to the lake takes about 1.5hrs up a pleasant track following a...More

Well worth a visit. Breathtaking view of the magical Pyrenees. You can decide whether to hike all the way to the top (count a minimum of 1h30 depending on fitness!!) or to take a chair lift from pont d Espagne. We decided to take a...More

I suggest to go there early morning with chair lift - open at 9:45am to give you the time to reach later the refuge "Les Oulettes", approximately 2hr 30'.

Only an hours walk from pont despagne, not too tricky and paths are well marked. The area is also accessible via chairlifts and avery short and more level walk. At the lake you can get refreshments.

Lac de Gaube can be reached via the cabin- and chairlift (2) (and a 15min. walk to the lake) from Pont d' Espagne (tourist office/entrance-ticket box office)(15 € / adult for round-trip) or you'll opt for the walk/climb by foot (1h30). Enjoy the splendid views...More

Been here for both extremes Summer and Winter. Summer is best in my opinion as you get to explore numerous paths that are too dangerous in the winter. The walk to the lake is an easy one from the ski-lift (haven't done it from the...More

Take the telecabine and then the teleferique directly yo the lake, preserve your energy for the 2h path leading from the lake to the refuge oulettes gaube, where you'll enjoy the stunning view of the glacier des oulettes, simply spectacular!
