The entire fortress system above or below the ground is well preserved, even the train is still operating. There is a lot of history facts to be learned. Guide was very knowledgeable and his english was very good. I was there atn 5/2015.

Ouvrage Hackenberg is absolutely enormous with many kilometres of underground tunnels. The guided tour is very informative and includes a trip on the underground electric railway. At one point the tour pops up above ground. Fascinating...

Native Englishman Paul was a great guide for a very interesting piece in history. This fort of the Maginot Line is quite intact, including a working train and cannon
