Beautiful grounds for a stroll. Enjoyable museum both for the living quarters of emperor and empress as well as the attached wagon/early car museum.

For those of us that like vehicles there’s a museum of old sleighs, carriages and even some early motors. Very interesting but unfortunately badly presented.

Not even remotely crowded - sumptuous furnishings in a lovely Palais. Interesting in context with others such as Fontainebleau or Versailles although not nearly s “Grand”. Gardens and surrounding forest particularly lovely. Easy train ride out (45 minutes).

Struggled, but eventually found a disabled parking space in the square in front of the palace. They are not very well marked and you have to really look for them. There is a lift up to the first floor (look for the PMR sign). They...More

Lavishly decorated and furnished apartments as for Emperors Napoleon 1 and Napoleon 111, lots of paintings and a collection of vehicles of the 18th and 19th centuries.

We arrived in Compiegne and easily found the palace and gardens. The Gardens are amazing and so extensive and the palace is very interesting to visit while in the area. Make sure you make some time to take a look around it is very inexpensive...More
