We had the steam train ride with the traditional wooden carriages and wooden benchs. There was a piano accordionist and snaps provided on the trip that we did with a group - great fun. Very atmospheric and through the beautiful scenery of the Ziller valley....More

This railway runs with both diesel and steam. The steam service takes almost twice as long but does give some great photo opportunities. The steam service runs once in each direction (10:42 from Jembach and 14:33 from Mayrhofen) Wednesday to Sunday during the high season....More

We chose the Ziller valley railway to get to Mayrhofen from Jenbach. Wow what a fantastic jouney in the valley. We also had the chance to hop on and off at the little stations and saw the fantastic steam engine pull into Mayrhofen. A fantastic...More

We had paid E21 each for the two-way trip. On our way to Mayrhofen we were treated like second-class citizens, because we were asked to move to another carriage when a group of Austrian veterans came on board on the second stop. At some instances...More

Disappointed it wasn't a steam train. But it was a pleasant ride through the valley with various request stops. The valley was quite foggy in the morning mainly due to the smoke from various factories but it was still very scenic.

Wonderful steam train journey from Jenbach, the length of the Ziller Valley to Mayrhofen. With live music on the train, (traditional tirolean), and a souvenir miniature schnapps to enjoy, this is a fun packed trip for everyone

It's about a minute through the station underpass. But make sure you are at the west end of the main line train (the front going towards Innsbruck and back going towards Salzburg) as the main line exit is right at the west... More
