About
Framed by colorful houses built into the surrounding cliffs, Spiaggia Grande is the main beach of Positano. Rent a sunbed and go for a dip in the refreshing clear turquoise waters. Then, hop on a boat tour or make your way through the town up to Via Cristoforo Colombo Overlook—both offer brilliant views of the Amalfi Coast from different perspectives. If you're looking to escape the crowds, try Fornillo Beach, a 10-minute walk away. Regardless, get in early to nab yourself a good spot for the day, and bring footwear for the small stones that make up the beaches. – Tripadvisor

It’s 30 euro per sun bed which is pretty expensive but honestly it was so worth it. They had multiple pedal boats floating close-ish to the shore which made it an easy spot for some dives and flips. We also ate at the restaurant so we gained wifi access that way but otherwise I am not sure if you can get wifi here.Visited August 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten May 24, 2023

- Georgia MLincoln, United Kingdom270 contributionsBeautiful but heavingI have a mixed view on this. The views from the sea back into the cliff are gorgeous (along with the sea itself), but it’s absolutely absurd that around 80-85% of the beach if not more is taken up by empty beach clubs charging crazy amounts for a sunbed and the tiny space which is free leaves everyone packed and cramped in like sardines. I think it’s definitely going to put people off going which is a shame because it’s beautiful. But what’s the use if you can’t enjoy the sea or beach freely (or have to pay through the nose to enjoy it).Visited August 2023Traveled with friendsWritten September 16, 2023

- Herbert C891 contributionsA beach with a spellbinding viewAlthough Spiaggia Grande is the main beach of Positano, it is not anyone's idea of a beach paradise, with its greyish sand and extortionate prices to rent a sunbed and umbrella. Despite that, this mere 400 metres stretch of beach will still leave you spellbound because of its enchanting surroundings. Standing at the centre of the beach, you're surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colors - from the pastel pink, yellow and white hues of the houses stacked on the cliffside, the colorful majolica-tiled dome of Church of Santa Maria Assunta, the greenish brown of the imposing Lattari Mountains and of course the turquoise sea. With such breathtaking vista, no wonder they say that Positano is a stunning work of pure Italian art. Pure magic!Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 22, 2024

If you want to be scammed on a overcrowded beach, you're welcome. 90€ for a bottle of low class Prosecco. What a waste of lifetime.

Positano is very beatiful place but to much crowed. The Spiagga Grande in fact is very small and full of private areas.
The views are amazing but forget about the beach.

Stony beach that was overcrowded and noisy. Impossible to escape the loud, non-stop rap music. Total rip off at 70 euros for 2 sunbeds. If you like this kind of atmosphere then good luck but I think most sane people who want to have a relaxing day on a nice beach would do well to avoid this place; must be better beaches nearby

During our visit to Positano beach in mid-June, we parked our car near the beach. However, when we arrived at the beach, we were shocked to discover the exorbitant price of 70 euros for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella. It was either paying that amount or enduring the scorching sun with no shade in a cramped area designated for those using towels, situated on the side of the beach. We later found out that there are better-priced options on the beaches further down the coast. My advice is not to pay these inflated prices and explore other beaches where you can find more reasonable rates.

The place to be in Positano !
The only negative I would say is the rocky beach, which doesn’t allow you to walk/stroll around

Hi! I have a few questions
1. Can we swim even in the private side of the beach for free?
2. Do we get the same views from the free beach?
3. If we do rent out beach chairs, can we bring our own food and wine?
Thank you!

Grazie
