We took a tour that ended in a wine tasting and Sicilian Street food pairing. The wines were very nice, the tour was informative, and the pairings worked really well. It was definitely worth the time.

Our young student from the North of Italy was very knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the tasting and the tour of the cellar but for 36 euro per person we expected a little more food. For us it was a way enjoy a lunch. I think we could have had more and had better value at an Osteria in Marsala. Small tastings of food matching the 4 wines we tasted. But also here the serving of wine were small. So a word of warning. You will definitely need to eat a large breakfast before or a good evening meal afterwards if you decide to take this tour.

We arrived here without a booking, not realising that we needed one. The security guard wasn't very welcoming but pointed to where we could park the car. There wasn't an English tour happening that morning but we kept asking questions and after noticing our interest (and the fact that we didn't seem to be easily deterred!) the lovely Portuguese girl said that she would let us taste a wine before leaving. We'd never heard of this company before because they don't export to NZ. Well, then she realised that we are genuinely interested in wine and that an English-speaking tour was about to start with only 2 other people in it, so we were allowed to join in. She was really sweet and knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The other couple were lovely and we finished with a tasting, by which time we were all best friends. I would definitely recommend this place but make a booking first. Also, although it is quite a large operation, it is still very-much a family run business and they do take a lot of care with their wine-making. NB: They no longer make Marsala wine.

We recently visited this large winery having opted for the Donna Gabriella wine tasting experience, which provided opportunity to taste 5 wines paired with local traditional cuisine. The lineup was a mix of red, white and the famous sweet wine Ben Rye. The tasting was an excellent experience and offered a refined cultural perspective on wine and food pairing. The tour of the large production facility was also interesting and was in deep contrast to some of the smaller wineries on Sicily. Overall, this was a worthwhile visit to Marsala even if only to try some of the more premium wines which Donnafugata produce. Floramundi and Mille e Una Notte stole the show on the wine tasting front!

We visited here recently without a reservation. We had been recommended the wine. We were first met by a seemingly distracted security guard that told us we definitely couldn’t go in without a reservation. After some persistence, reception staff invited us to the wine shop for an informal tasting. Very grateful for this small effort. The place certainly looks well set up for a personalised tasting experience but be aware - amongst some misinformed, self assured, pretentious folk that seem to find themselves employed or visiting these places! Some of the wine is excellent. Personally, I get much more from a small, passionate winery experience.
