Fantastic place - allow plenty of time to enjoy to the full
Sep 2020
Spent several hours here, visiting the Priory, and the fantastic grounds, gardens, and sights. Views are spectacular from the Mausoleum. Definitely a place to go with a certain degree of fitness - steep inclines, loads of steps, and well worth it. Staff very friendly and helpful, hand held translation control for tour of the house for different languages. Excellent experience

Absolutely "absurd" in the dimensions , stunning impressive to think, it was once a place for one man ! To enjoy the place you should take at least half a day and wear practical shoes ! With all the up and downs to save the money for the gym.

Excellent

The tour of the house was extremely well organized and well conducted , the grounds were very interesting in that there is lots to see but be careful if you have reduced mobility there are lots of steps and paths and very few handrails. The only disappointment was the “ secret “ museum where the tv presentation was switched off and there are hardly any explanations of the objects on show . The staff are very friendly and the tickets very reasonable.

beautiful house and garden

On its own terms a lovely location. The history of Gabrielle is closely entwined with that period of Italian history and adds real depth to the visit.

A lot to see and learn, guided tour is a must

The home of D’Annuzio, this man was a kleptomaniac amongst other things. The tour of the house is essential to understand he man and the history. The gardens seem to go on and one and at every turn there is something unexpected - including an Italian warship !

Impressive history and a sight to see!

The home of d'Annunzio will leave you speechless. You are ushered throughout the rooms with a guide who tells of his interesting life and history. I knew very little of the man before going to this villa, and was left quite in awe of what I learned. Please keep in mind, you cannot take pictures in the rooms, however, the rooms which hold military artifacts as well as the gardens are free to photograph. A definite must see, if for no other reason to peek into the life of this unique individual.

This is a nice tour to learn about the poet who lived here and visit the lovely gardens. We spent a few hours here and it was very interesting.

Fascinating

If you are in Gardone you must visit Vittoriale. It is up a steepish hill from the lake; it is walkable if reasonably mobile, otherwise there is a road 'train' which runs from the side of Grand Hotel Gardone up to the village centre.

So many fascinating things to see but well worth it.

An excellent experience!

We spent an enjoyable few hours at this villa. First of all we had a very informative English speaking tour of the house , which is fascinating, then we walked around the amazing extensive grounds with so many interesting features and sculptures. I feel that the entrance fee charged made it very good value for money in contrast to some other tourist attractions in the area.

A riot of amusement
Sep 2019
The secret d'Annunzio museum and the priory is a fascinating insight into one of the most extraordinary men of the early years of Italy as a country. A mixture of a hedonist and poet who became a bombastic orator and a strange mixture of bravery and foolhardy but clearly mesmerizing to his contemporaries. Exhibitions include his clothing from which you realise he was very short even for those days. Also a single engined aircraft in which he crossed the alps to bombard Vienna with leaflets! and a motor torpedo boat.
The extensive garden requires stamina and there are many steps. For parts you need to be almost a mountain goat!
