Lake Garda Afternoon Sightseeing Cruise from Sirmione

30 reviews
Savor the scenery and sights of Lake Garda on a 4-hour afternoon cruise from Sirmione. Board a comfortable boat and sail along the lake’s western shores past islands, towns, villas, and more. Glide by the Roman Grotto of Catullus and one-time mansion of Maria Callas, see the islets of San Biagio and Garda and stop for an optional swim. Finally, take a stroll in Salò and toast views of Gardone with a glass of Prosecco.

We spent a couple hours at this wonderful museum on our last day in Gardone Riviera. It consists of hundreds of carvings, statues and dolls of Baby Jesus dating back to the 1500's. They are put together very reverently and the museum is clearly a labor of love and devotion. I think many of these remarkable statues were rescued by the owners of the museum, and restored to their original beauty. If you are even a little bit religious, I think you will really enjoy visiting. And even if you are not, to see so many different styles and depictions of baby Jesus from over the centuries is still worth the visit.

Only worth visiting if you like the unusual. The museum on two floors is basically a shrine to the doll figures representing the Christ child popular in the past . There are also Madonna statues and one enormous tableaux of the nativity with figurines from centuries past. This gives a wonderful insight into Italian rural life. Very thought provoking imagining the many people who had poured out their hopes and fears to these statues in times past

This villa was not for us. Built by an eccentric for eccentrics. Nothing felt real. Like visiting your aunts collection of novelty teapots.

We had an hour here on our final day in Gardone, and weren't entirely surprised to be the onlyvisitors in this rather off the beaten track and specialised museum, essentially of preseppio dolls. My wife enjoyed it. I liked one fabulous tableaux, and the complimentary prosecco as we left. Otherwise - I've been to more enthralling, and enchanting, places. It was also rather more expensive to get in than it warranted, in my opinion.

This museum houses "dolls" which represent the Holy Christ Child. Unless you are interested in such things, it is probably not worth visiting.
