In mid-August 2018, I took my 11-year old son, and my 10-year old daughter, for their very first scuba dive. Previously, my kids had only ever snorkelled and had never tried scuba gear, but the Talas Dive Centre in Elba, Tuscany, was an excellent introduction for them. First, my kids completed a 2-hour theoretical introduction which they picked up quickly. Next, they were introduced into a nearby hotel pool with all the gear, including smaller, junior-sized tanks. Thanks to Dive Master Marco Priod’s kind and patient approach, my kids had the confidence to get around in the pool with the scuba gear immediately. Two days later, when wind conditions permitted, we all took the lovely Talas dive boat about 30 minutes off the coast of Elba. Being a PADI diver myself, I jumped in with the kids and Marco was very careful to hold my kids’ hands throughout their 45-minute dive during which they marvelled at a great variety of fish, including the beautiful purple and gold patterned Mediterranean moray (Muraena helena) which they viewed up close and took photos. Once back aboard, we were all treated to bruschetta and sweet tea, and they even had gluten free snacks for me, which I had not expected. After less than an hour break, and moving to another location, we re-entered to again enjoy the excellent diving conditions that featured 25-metre visibility in calm, clear, warm water. My kids went to 14 metres depth without any difficulty, any sense of hesitation nor any mishap of any kind. Since on both dives I had extra air left in my tank by the time my kids finished their reserves, I joined up underwater with another group of divers which maximized my enjoyment. Following the dives, we were served delicious pasta with fresh tomatoes and garlic, or pasta with pesto, including a no-nuts option for those with allergies. I was served a wonderful gluten free pasta. We will look upon this experience with great affection - it was simply the optimum introductory dive for my children, and we all remain grateful not only to Marco Priod, but to his colleague Carlos, as well as all the other staff at Talas Dive Centre, hoping to see them again in future.

I was at Talas Center a week ago in July 2016. I came there with my brother and didn't plan to dive. But the professionalism and the warm nature of Carlo and Monica changed my mind and I decided to TRY! Why not =) They were highly professional, place full of new eqiupment and funny stories. First we started from the pool and next day in open water. During all time there were a lot of food on board and at the end of dives - delicious pasta and coffee. It was a fantastic experience. Each dive with the Team from Talas Diving was unique. Every day there was a new place around Elba. The underwater world was full of surprises and every time I was opening something new! Once a week they go to Pianosa island. The rental equipment is in tip top shape and the dive centre is very well maintained. Quick repairs are not in the base, and even on the boat. Carlo also has a good Tec equipment and training, even it is possible to dive with a Rebreather. Nitrox and Trimix is possible. On the boat they speak Italian and English. I can recommend the diving center: Talas Diving and I'll be sure to come again and again.

i was on Elba in August 2015. I have been diving with this team 9 times. The doubles, with italian Bread beween the dives and pasta after, made me feel to be really on vacation. The diveguides did know their thing, and made the diving really relaxed. I can recommend this diving centre to anyone. Esp. The night dive and the wreck diving should not be missed.

We know since many years Elba. The Talas team is very nice and competent, and also careful under water (it should be obvious, but a lot of instructors are not). The organization allow the best dives in Elba with optimal confort: you will start around 9.00 AM from the strand with a nice and big boat for divers, the equipment can stay on board during your holiday time, the scuba tanks (bottles) are filled on board with air or nitrox. Usually two dives are planned, lunch is included (after the two dives) when you are coming back to the strand (and enjoing the sight on Elba from sea). Sometimes you will have the exceptional possibility to dive in Pianosa, recently new diving points have been officially opened. And not least children are welcome, on board and also for diving... what else?

VERY nice place to dive, but moreover VERY nice people coming with us on the boat! Carlo, Andrea and Monica are very helpful and eceptionally patient. Carlo ofers after two dives always delicious PASTA and wine. This place is suitable not only for experimented divers but also for families and beginners.
