Visited Mirik Monastery on invitation of a monk friend who showed me around and attended the morning prayer session of Buddh Purnima, which was a very soul satisfying experience.

I would rather suggest to climb up the hill than to go by car. I climbed up the hill . It is a very nicely designed and decorated monastery. A must see.

Once you have visited one monastery in the hills....all others fall into the same pattern. This was a small well built structure.

There is an explicit emphasis on the environment. The place also offers silent retreats (if I understood this pcorrectly). In sum another quiet place for meditation or simply contemplation.

Well this is a beautiful and only monastery in Mirik and is located at top of hill. You can also have view of entire valley from here. Though steep but walkable from main market.
