We visited in mid May, we were told that the next tour would be in about 10 minutes after our arrival……but all that the ”guide” did at the appointed time was lead us all (there were about a dozen all told) into the courtyard, point...More

Well worth the visit, this amazing place and the beautiful gardens is somewhere I would love to live!!! Imagining those who lived here during it's time was so easy as everything has been maintained to period. Spectacular and most memorable.

The only unfortunate thing is that they only take guided parties around the chateau interior when sufficient people have arrived so we ran out of time. We did picnic in the Princess garden in wonderful seclusion and then wandered around the chateau's walls and the...More

The chateau is in a delightful setting, beside the swiftly flowing Vezere River and surrounded by extensive pastureland. Inspection of the chateau seems to be available only as part of a guided tour, which is only conducted in French, with limited notes for others. Although...More

Most French chateau do not have a lot to show, largely because the French were fortunate enough to have a revolution! However this place has enough to hold the interest as well as lovely gardens overlooking the vezeres.

First problem: it only opens at 12:00. Second problem: admission to the chateau is only as part of a guided tour. Third problem: is that the guided tour is only in French. Our guided made no attempt whatsoever to assist the non French speakers in...More
