- Aussie TravellerBrisbane, Australia377 contributionsNice experienceEnjoyed our visit as part of a tour group. Stairs down to the sinkhole are steep but manageable. Restroom facilities only with no showers and lacking in adequate shaded areas to help combat the heat. Water was cool and fairly easy to access.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 25, 2023
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada8,617 contributionsCool SinkholeThis sinkhole is safe to swim in and has plenty of parking on site. If you choose to swim there are some little fish in the sinkhole that will "clean" your feet and from what we are told they are mostly harmless. The sinkhole is part of some tours but we saved some money renting a car and driving ourselves there. It takes about an hour and a half to get to from Muscat and you'll be treated to some spectacular views along the way. The sinkhole itself is neat to check out and there are stairs to access and a nice garden to sit in. There are some rooms to get changed in and use toilets but there isn't much space. It is free to enter and is a well maintained area with some security. The sinkhole is between the mountains and the sea.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 28, 2023
- Beer TravellerNovo Mesto, Slovenia484 contributionsSwim in the sinkholeA sinkhole is a pleasant and pretty big spot to have a swim, lots of stairs to get down. Toilets available to change. Lots of parking but also quite some people. Not crowded but still plently of them. Definitely worth to stop if driving from Muscat to Sur.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 6, 2023
- Ebsflo151 contributionsWorth a visitWe went to see the Bimmah Sinkhole as it was only 20km after Wadi Shab. Worth visiting if you are in the area and it is free. The steps down and up are steep. Once you’re in the water it is very cool. No changing facility so best to put your swimming clothes on first and then a tshirt on top. Once you are in the water you can have a decent swim and enjoy this natural beauty. If you have water/swimming please take these. It is unmanned but they are developing the surrounding areasVisited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 30, 2023
- AucklandWizAuckland, New Zealand2,257 contributionsOK FOR A QUICK REFRESHING DIPIn making a decision of places to visit, we searched places on You Tube and the photos looked great here and so we stopped en route to Wadi Shab. It was a 5 minute walk from the carpark to the sink hole (it was very hot) and when we got there, there was a bit of a walk down into the water. The water looked as if the level of the water was down a little. We had a short swim which was nice to cool off. Nice to do once, but certainly not a highlight of our trip.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 24, 2023
- Mehtap A2 contributionsNatureVisiting the Bimmah Sinkhole was an inspiring experience. This hidden gem is a true marvel of nature, tucked away in Oman's beauty. The crystal-clear turquoise water is inviting, and the limestone walls surrounding it create a breathtaking scene. It's a perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle, connecting with nature in its purest form. The site is well-maintained, with easy access and facilities nearby. I highly recommend a visit to the Bimmah Sinkhole for anyone seeking tranquility and a touch of nature's magic. A definite must-see!Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 9, 2024
- Yorkshire Lad - The OriginalYork, United Kingdom1,666 contributionsJust about worth a visit. Just. The pics online make this place look fantastic. Videos even better. The expectation was high.... but the reality is this is a 35m sinkhole with some greenish water, with lots of foreign bodies floating about and I don't mean humans. Yes, sure, if passing along the coast route to Sur, this is worth a stop. But any idea of a relaxing, lush oasis is quickly shattered by coach loads of tourists, lots of screaming kids and people who get excited over very little. Sorry, just my views as a RTW traveller.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 21, 2024
- HazelAjman, United Arab Emirates676 contributionsCool placeIt was easy to navigate and just an hour and 30mins drive from Muscat. We drove early morning to see the place and avoid the crowds. Reached the place and not full of tourists. The place is very nice, and the water is very clear. The entry is free to visit the area. U can also enjoy swimming in the areaVisited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 31, 2024
- hash977Blackburn, United Kingdom7 contributionsBimmah SinkholeWe stopped here on the way back to Muscat after visiting Tiwi and Wadi Shab. Great place to stroll around relax for a short while with free entry and plenty of parking on-site. Also really friendly security team who gave us Arabic Coffee as we left. There is a small child play area on site too. The stairs down to the sinkhole are quite steep but well worth it to get a free foot massage from the small fish in the water. Lovely experience once i got over the tickly sensation of my feet being nibbled i didn't want to leave.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 5, 2024
- Barbs25Staffordshire, United Kingdom3,910 contributionsGreat placeStopped here as part of a tour pk the way back from wadi Shab. Easy to visit yourself though. Free car park and the sinkhole is about 10 mins easy walk from there, just steep steps down. Toilets by the car park but no shop so bring food and water. You can swim in the sinkhole so bring swimwear and towels. Beautiful clear water and some little fishes (the kind that give you a pedicure so beware of the tickling feeling!)Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 7, 2024

This is a place that looks good on an iphone-sized instagram post, but in real life, it is exceedingly underwhelming and overcrowded. The "national park" that it is located is a big, flat, parking lot sized area crowded with children's playgrounds and sad, shackled camels posing with local families. The sinkhole itself is really small and unimpressive - yes, the color of the water is pretty, but if you've been to any swimming hole in Texas, you've seen water this color. I didn't go much out of my way to visit here (it is 5 minutes off the main highway from Muscat to Sur), but I regret that I spent any time here. I highly recommend that if you want to go swimming, you go to the (beautiful and empty) beaches all along the coast and/or the (crowded but at least scenic) wadis.

Located about an hour and a half from Muscat, easily reachable by car. It’s close to sea and the road to reach it offer spectacular views. It’s a closed off, but free, park, very well maintained. The sink hole is amazing, the water is transparent and blue, with the dramatic change of color of the sand colored walls it makes it a wow experience. A steep set of steps take you down and up, so try not to go in the hot hours. You can have a refreshing bath, but when you come back up the sun is very strong. Beautiful experience not to be missed

It was our first time visiting a sinkhole. We had an amazing experience. Even though it was a beautiful place, the water didn’t appear clean. The steps were steep albeit not hard to walk if you took your time. It was easy to get to the sinkhole and plenty of parking for visitors. We found out there were lots of travellers just like us, stopping over as they head to Muscat city or to Sur, Turtle Reserve. It’s a lovely place plenty for picnics or just to rest. Our kids enjoyed spending time at the playground nearby!

beautiful place. Rent a car before you go there - amazing colors for the water. Don't go during Eid season since it was very crowded, we couldn't swim in the water.
make sure to go early morning, we went around noon, and it was very hot.
Ladies should wear conservative clothes (not above the knee, and no spaghetti straps)
make sure to make a stop later to "Fins" beach, it's very close to the sinkhole.

Disappointing. You don't pay entry so you can go out onto the street and take some photos. A real "pool" which is accessed by a rather steep staircase. The smelly water (like stagnant lake water) full of small fish that eat the skin on your feet. You have nothing to support things so you leave them on the ground, one piled on top of the other. Definitely a more impressive place in photos than in person

You have to know where this is. You would never guess the size of it from the road. There is a small carpark, but it wasn't busy. There is a nice park which is well looked after. There is a toilet block, including fresh water. Remember! It's illegal to get changed in public. We took waterproof shoes as the stones can be slippery. Other people brought snorkels too so they could enjoy the underwater sights. If you sit with your feet in the water he fish will nibble at your dead skin. It's a strange feeling but not bad. We stayed for a few hours, just enjoying the atmosphere. Apparently, there are gazelles somewhere, but we didn't see any. I totally recommend a visit.

Underwhelming. If you have not yet seen Wadis then you might find it nice but it is a crater with water full of tourists who went down some ugly stairs. That is a rough and perhaps harsh summary but we spent around 15min in the park which was built around it.
It is free to enter but the flowers around are nice than the hole itself.
Skip it and take your time with Wadi D'hab 25 min driving away.

We went to see the Bimmah Sinkhole as it was only 20km after Wadi Shab.
It is unmanned but they are developing the surrounding areas

The way to to Bimmah Sinkhole from Muscat does it need a 4 wheels car or normal Salon will be fine? Thank you
Written December 21, 2019
No need for 4 wheels. Road there is quite smooth. I drove corolla from downtown to sinkhole without any problem.
Written December 28, 2019
Not exactly sure but like most parks probably before Dusk , to be safe I’d try to get there before 4 pm . Remember though depending on the time of year and the temp plus the fact that this place is probably 300 yds below the surface it could be dark and cool or sunny and warm waters depending if the sun is overhead. The place to see is obviously the wadi which is about 10mins by car from this place

Is it OK to wear 2 pieces swimsuit for girls or I better wear a t-shirt on top? Thank you (could you also let me know for the wadi shab?)
I will be visiting both spots weekdays on Thursday and maybe there are less locals in that day.
Written December 14, 2018
I would wear a t-shirt at the sinkhole and then swim in swimwear. At the wadi, either is fine, just make sure you are comfortable and take reef shoes if you can as the rocks are harsh on your feet.

Hi there, I'm planning to visit Bimmah Sink hole on January 6th, I would like to ask about the weather then and how long time do you usually spend there?
Thanks.
Written December 2, 2016
Also public toilet facility available. Also one security post also there. But it is recommended you to not try to jump from the edges and trying to play if you are not an expert swimmer. Overall you can enjoy with your family.
